    Drywall question:

Starting to tape and mud my kitchen. Seam where two pieces of drywall meet is not flush due to one piece having the tapered "finished" side abutting a cut side from the middle of the second sheet. Maybe 1/16" difference? Should I mud/tape it first, then feather out the next coats to blend it, or should I use the mud to try and raise the tapered end before taping it, then feather out less?

Not sure which is more correct to blend the surfaces, tape then mud; or mud, tape, then mud.

Hopefully that makes sense, if not, I can add a photo to better explain.

What ive done is bevel the edge first with utility knife. Then mud and tape and float it out.

What he said I try not to have the situation because it takes bit of extra effort to get it to look right.

I've never stained cedar. What color are you going for? Have you tried any of https://generalfinishes.com that's pretty much all I use anymore.

Anyone done any led lighting in their house yet? I'm looking for a good source for light controllers.

I picked up a half cord of mixed hardwood today for $50.

Full cord of seasoned oak is $150 picked up.

Delivered you could spend $300 a cord.

Have you installed a lot of Cedar decking Oz, I deter customers from using it. It is such a soft wood it scratches easily, a dogs nails will scratch it. High heel shoes will punch into it. Is there a hardening process they do to the cedar these days, it's been years since I have dealt with cedar decking?

While it may be soft it wears very well. The house I grew up in had a very large wrap around cedar deck. I would ride a dirt bike over it so it held up well in that respect.
Now I did have a matchbox car accident where I slide both hands on it for about 5 feet. I remember my mom giving me nyquil wrapping my hands in very warm towells and then falling asleep. She spent 4+ hours pulling splinters out of my hands while I was knocked out on nyquil.

Lol. Probably why I dislike working with cedar. I wish I could find my middle school woodshop teacher. Guy was a prick.

I can get an allergic reaction to cedar now , I use a full face mask respirator when I'm milling it

Finished that yesterday. Reminded my why I enjoy building furniture and other things. That chest is older than I am and will probably be here well after me. I often use two taglines when I put things up for sale.

"Your kids will never fight over who gets the ikea table"
And " don't you think your a little past putting your furniture together."

Cedar makes me sneeze. Spanish cedar bothers me much worse. I grew up around the shop so I'm very sensitive to the dust.
