Much more reliable. There are a lot of threads about the ADD system causing problems. Manual hubs have no actuator, or fuses, or relays, or wiring to fail. Also, with manuals, the front axles and differential do not spin while in 2WD, those parts get very little wear, and MPG is a little better.

Lots of guys get an 01-04 model (with its advantages), and swap in manual hubs, and get the best of both worlds. If I had to have a 4-door Tacoma, thats what I would do.

That makes sense. I guess it is nice to have them free especially when you know you won't be in 4wd like driving around town. I think my dads f250 is setup that way were it still has manual hubs and the ADD thing.

Having 2-low without modifying any wiring is nice too. Just yesterday I used my 2-low to back-up a loaded trailer in some really tight quarters on pavement and had zero drive-line bind.

Brett: Your truck looks mean with those Iroks on there:)

^My truck is the same way. I'll end up getting 17mpg with 85 octane. I need 91octane to get 23 mpg out here... I figured it was just because I've got so many miles on it. But, maybe it is a 5VZ-FE thing...
