I bought my 2012 TRD with a 6" lift and 35's about 2 months ago and joined the boards here, mostly browsing, not a lot of posting..

Unfortunately the life of that Tacoma was cut short about 2 weeks ago when some Jack@$$ decided he wanted to make a hard cut across 4 lanes of traffic and plow into the side of me. This sent my Truck into a barrier which being lifted, took as a ramp, lifted off, and landed on the roof before rolling back on to all three wheels. Luckily neither my passenger nor I walked away with more than a few cuts from flying glass!

The worst part is Insurance companies wont give you any thing more than the ACV (actual cash value) of your vehicle and neglect all modifications. Upon purchasing the truck I had even went so far to add $2000 in modifications to my own policy which I later learned only is applicable to a repairable vehicle *Great*

This weekend I picked up a slightly used 2012 TX Baja fully loaded which I am happy with, but I know wont be the same.

I was able to negotiate with the insurance company to get my old parts so I will have a few items to sell in the near future.

Damn man, glad to hear you made it out of that wreck with little more than scratches.

Kudos on the new truck! You have firsthand experience why Toyotas have the reputation they do now, especially our 2nd gens :D

The Taco's roof gives about 5" with about 12,300 lb on it, according IIHS testing.

your truck gave up its life to save yours, that is enough reason to get another one.

I honestly couldn't be happier with how the truck held up, its amazing just how safe I feel in one now.

The bike is mine, was in the back so had to get a photo for insurance purposes (I did get them to give me about what that was worth).

There is alot to be said for starting over. You get the opportunity to use what you learned the first time through, and improve on it. Both sweet looking trucks. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the new one. Glad everyone walked away without a serious injury.
