x2. Copper AT3 are FAR from the best tire for on road use and snow covered roads. The AT3 does have good traction, but they're noisy and I could not get them to wear evenly to save my life. I had issues with my Cooper ATR's and AT3s (the ATR replacement) and will not buy Cooper for a long time. The quality of their tires seems to have gone downhill in the last few years. I ran several sets of their tires in high school and college without issue but am not impressed with them recently. I have Michelin AT2's on my truck now and absolutely love them!

There is no ONE ideal tire...I take off my Cooper AT3 for winter and put on studded snows...

I went with Mastercraft AXT's very similar to Cooper Discover at3. Mastercraft is made by Cooper. Price is a lot cheaper

I didn't say there was ONE ideal tire. In fact I said that I use different tires for summer and winter.

Michelin Ltx or Michelin AT2's. Great tires, you can look to get 70k+ out of the tires, and great traction

These tires are excellent. Load Range E 10ply
    Extremely Quiet
    Tread blocks are huge

I previously had Toyo Open Country AT2's Similar tire just not as smooth driving and were decent in the snow. Also over priced IMO.

Those mastercraft are made by Cooper as well, similar tread design as the AT3 and ATP, but different tread compounds, what's the DOT code ? I'll tell if we made them at our Cooper plant...

I had the AT3 on my Titan. Junk tire in snow/wet/ice. Would not buy again. Your region may have different conditions and you may have better performance.

The annoying part is some people say they are great and some say they are horrible in the snow

On sloppy wet heavy snow like the kind we get on the coast you want open tread pattern to displace snow, then soft rubber and lots of siping to get traction below it. AT3 doesn't seem to have it. Anything with open tread patterns will go through snow. It's not the snow that you need traction in, it's the ice or slush on the surface below it. People who compare them to stock tires are probably right that they are great in snow. When you go from garbage tires to an A/T with deep open tread you're going to notice a huge difference but they won't compare to an actual winter tire.

True. AT3 tread just packs up then become useless. In the Titan, i couldn't make it up my mother-in-laws drive without 4WD in LO. it was embarassing.

If ya want a AT tire that performs in winter the new Cooper A/TW tire is a good one, I seen some being made the other day and they look good in person, haven't seen any reviews on it yet as its a new tire for us, but I think there is a member on here that has a set...

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I picked up the Cooper A/TWs a couple weeks ago. Not much to report since it has been dry and no snow yet. They're a slightly softer ride than the stock Dunlops. And they do sing above 50 mph. Not too noisy but you know they're there. Lots of good grip. They do stick on dry pavement and don't slide on gravel. Just waiting for the snow...

Thread revived... picked up Cooper Discover AT3's in 265/75/16, and I'm very impressed with them. They are pretty quiet, and I even like them more than my old BFG AT's. Haven't got them in mud yet.

I like the Cooper AT3, but I am now ready to upgrade to the Michelin LTX M/S2, the coopers just are too noisy as they wear...
