I hope these arn't in any particular order from best to worst. Missing from this list is the Mercedes G wagon. Also today's Rangerovers are more about 0-60 and plush interiors and luxury car like handling. They even come with grippy low profile tires as opposed to anything you would want to use in snow or an off-road environment.

Keep in mind it's an article by Consumer Reports. Take it with a grain of salt because the magazine's highest-rated pickup is this thing:

    Lol

I use to own a ridgline. The 4WD system is meant more for ON road 4wd. Like ice, snow, and rain. It handles that well. But off road no so much. I couldn't even drive on a washed out dirt road. It would bottom out constantly.

Friend of mine has a ridgeline..... Says it garbage. Turning radius is crap and its slow as shit. I personally can't comment on it as I don't have one and don't plan to, but I would like to point out that it has NO SOLID AXLE!! It's all independent... Ew

I get the point you were trying to make but having a solid axle is not what makes a truck off road worthy... Think Hummer H1, no solid axle and is a phenominal off roader.

And before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I'm not saying the Ridgeline is comparable to the H1...

Yeah, I don't mean that a solid axle makes a vehicle and offroader, I was just mentioning that since it was brought up that it bottoms out easily and it made me think of that.

Consumer Reports does have an off road test. It is basically a ramp made out of rocks that is 10 or 15 yards long. If you look at the road test video of the 4Runner, they show it doing the climb. It isn't super severe, but a decent portion of vehicles can't make it. I don't know if they test every SUV/truck/CUV on it, though.

I'd be hard pressed to make a list of "best off road" based on that one test, though. There is way too much that goes into "off road" to make a judgement based on that. Where you plan on off roading matters as much as the vehicle, IMO. (Raptor is going to be shit in something tight and rocky, Wrangler would be shit in a Baja style scenario, for example.)
