I have no idea how much I am in this, but Cameron said I made the cut. As you recall from last June, when I was invited to come along for 3 days of their week + tour of the missions and off road trails, Cameron Steele had me provide some history of the missions in person at two of the missions (Santo Domingo and El Rosario).

There were about 50 people on the tour driving Ford Raptors, Toyota Tundra, Jeep Wrangler, Ford, and Dodge trucks... plus the chow trailer and helicopter.

It was a fun 3 days for me with a bunch of great people.

Me when the cameras were rolling at Mission Santo Domingo...

Well, got home and watched the show on the DVR... I thought it was a nice job showing a group of families who are in the Off Road industry have some 'time-out' fun with Cameron and Heidi. I was surprised to get as much air as I did, but it was nice to chat for a few minutes with the group at Santo Domingo and El Rosario missions.

The finger injury by Casey Currie surfing at Punta San Carlos caused him to fly back in the copter with me and the pilot to have the hospital check it out, the next day. The scene of us getting in the copter was shown before the Mesa San Carlos visit, but it actually happened after... and was right near Mission San Fernando.

The Ford Raptors had a few issues as you could see, but as far as I could tell the Toyota Tundra, and Dodge trucks (and Casey's new Jeep) had none... that I saw or heard of.

Many missions were passed up, for the sake of time and to fit into the show. The time shown at San Borja, San Ignacio, and San Javier was nice... as was the walk on El Camino Real at San Borja. Cameron did a good job I think with the history. I am happy to have spent the 3 days with the Desert Assassins and telling them about Santo Domingo and El Rosario.

Thank you Cameron for the opportunity to be a part of this trip, and I hope to be again.

There is another showing tonight at 11 pm pst and two more the following week.

Thanks... yes, Cox: boo! I was at our son's home in La Mesa to watch it with family... and even though it was on his guide listing, the channel was not available!!! I saw it later last night when I got home... Direct TV for the win!

Dish Network is also a fail, for some... My friend in Vista wanted to see it, and it was not in his Dish package!... Direct TV for the win!

Maybe after the final showing (next Sunday at noon Pacific Time), it will get onto You Tube?

Oh cool... glad you liked it. They were a great group of people... all in the off road racing or fabrication industry with their families. I had a good time the three days I was with them.

If you have any questions about any Baja trip or the Old Missions, just ask! :)

1 question, when do you wanna go! Haha if I did a trip,it would be awesome to have someone that knows the history as well as the lay of land. I've always wanted to do a trip down south but for a first timer it seem like you would be much better served to go with a groups of baja veterans.

Perhaps that is why Cameron always gets plenty of guests to join in his trips? I have lead some day-trip 4WD caravans... the same idea, drive a cool dirt road, stop at interesting sites along the way, good friendship at lunch and around the campfire later! Here are a few of my 4WD Baja trips where others joined me:

    2001: http://www.vivabaja.com/shell/index.html
    2001: http://www.vivabaja.com/van1/index.html
    2003: http://www.vivabaja.com/403/

    2007: http://vivabaja.com/707/
    2010: http://vivabaja.com/msm2010/

Of course I have many more trips where I was the only vehicle, and they are on my web site http://vivabaja.com and after 2010 they are posted on Baja Nomad Forums, trip reports forum and some here on Tacoma World.

Thanks again. Had a great time with everyone on that trip. Without your prodding, I would not have ventured back to Mexico. :)
