I have 2400 miles on my 2015 dcsb 4x4 TRD OR and have noticed a slight, really slight vibration in the steering wheel at all speeds and heavier when excelerating. Its been there from day one. I want ideas on how to handle this with the dealer, I have been reading the threads on driveline vibrations, but this does not appear to be the same. I may be the tires, but would like other ideas.

Maybe a balancing weight was thrown off one of the wheels?

If only I had a dollar for every "My New Truck Has a Vibration" thread on this site lol

The 2nd gen Tacoma's have had a vibration issue since they first came out. Just google it and you'll see haha. Some people get new tires, get them rebalanced, get new wheels, etc. Either way, the vibration is normal. Either get used to it or trade up for something different because chances are it's not going away :p

You can try and see if the dealer notices the vibration and try to get them to check and make sure the wheels are balanced. Some of these trucks have some vibes, and some dont. Mine has always had the acceleration vibe, but not a constant vibe. That is, until I put duratracs on that don't balance worth a shit.

^Ha! That song played in my head as soon as I read the title. Anywho, I've got 700 miles on mine. I have a slight rear vibration when taking off. It only lasts a half second or so. No issues with the steering wheel. It doesn't bother me enough to have it looked into.

Tires, tire balancing, or slight toe out.

Have the technician test-drive with you riding shotgun. Point out the vibe when it happens.

Some people either have vibes or don't. I'm on my 6th Taco, and not one has had a single vibe that I can recall (call me really lucky I guess) my '14 Off-Road, has just a hair over 3k miles and is the best one yet, buttery smooth at any speed.

I had a '14 PreRunner that was buttery smooth until I installed aftermarket wheels that had 110mm hubs that I could not get balanced to save my life. Had re balanced 3 times and could not cure the vibe between 60-75 mph, or the steering wheel shake.

I guess I'm also conditioned to how lose Dodge, Ford and GM's are screwed together (as I've owned one of each of those) that I cant feel the parasitic imperfections in my Tacoma that it seems as high as 50% of members here say they have.

I'm thinking a lot of Tacoma owners are coming from Lexus, Infiniti or BMW's. Go spend some time behind the wheel of a GM truck for a week, then get back with us on how many imperfections you find on your Tacoma.

classic driveline vibration.... it wont ever go away completly no matter what springs toyota puts back there. theres a big TSB for this.

Just be thankful your 2015 TRD OR has the newer 3+1 leaf pack which isnt as weak as the 2+1 leaf pack that i had on my 2013.

if you have a vibe that you feel in your butt, or floorboards that is fixable
I had a vibe so bad 15-25 it would make it wheel hop, and yo felt it in yer arse

if you have a high frequency vibe only barely felt in wheel, normal

toyota states all tacoma vibes are completely and 100% fixed in the 2016 and forward they re-engineered the whole drivetrain

Must be a 4x4 thing or V6 thing of something. Because my '13 base RC is baby-butt smooth in all situations....as was my '09 RC.

That's because you have single piece driveshafts with no center support bearing that's surrounded by weak floppy rubber.

yeah anything with the two piece driveshaft is prone to the issue.

well.... 2 piece drive shafts are prone to the issue due to the weak center carrier bearing.

All the trucks are prone to the vibes due to axle wrap (from stork weak ass leaf springs) and the use of a standard u joint vs a double cardian joint at the trans (for single piece drive shafts) or at the center for 2 piecers.

My '14 is silky smooth and I am running 265/75's with more aggressive AT tires. Hit or miss I guess.
