I re-built/cleaned the starter (99 Taco) and a hose pulled out while I was wrestling the starter out. Can anyone tell me where the forward-most hose from the canister goes? In the image, it goes down along the wheel well and then I don't know where it ends. Based on the way it bends, it seems to go into a spot/hole on the frame, but could that be right?

I highlighted it in yellow in the picture.

I'll look at mine when I get home tonight and post back up.

Do you have any check engine lights? If you have no light, my guess is the air inlet to the charcoal canister. I can't say for sure because mine is a bit newer and the cannister is under the bed instead of under the hood like yours.

By the way, it looks like your brake fluid is low. When mine would get that low it was time for new brakes pads and the brake light would flicker on the dash.

Thanks for looking and the quick feedback! The check engine light has never come on, so at least there's that. The repair manual (pic attached) calls it the "air drain hose" but I can't find in the manual where the other end of the hose is.

Thanks for catching that about the brake fluid level! I'll put some in when I get home.

It goes into the frame. Should be a rubber grommet down on the inside of the frame rail.

I was just under my truck and mine has this hose stuck into a hole on the inside of the frame rail right next to the metal brake line, didn't notice if it had a grommet or was going anywhere after it went into the frame but it didn't give when I pulled on it to get the brake line around it and back into place.

I was trying to figure out what that hose was for while I was replacing my brake lines

Thanks for confirming, everyone! That's where I put the hose end (into the frame), but I just wanted to make sure that's where it belongs! (Love this forum!)
