Power Steering Leak

Hey guys and gals of TW,

I recently noticed that my truck had a leak of sorts and today I finally crawled underneath to see what the culprit was. It appears that I am loosing power steering fluid at a decent rate out of this line in the picture:



I have done a crap ton of research and cannot seem to find that part anywhere or how to fix that exact line.. If anyone could help me at all, it would be greatly appreciated.. I also called Toyota, explained what was going on, and they sent me over their drawings but the hose I need does not have a part number..

Bump, need to get this fixed.. Anyone have some input? Went to the dealership and they told me I can buy the hoses separate and I'd have to buy the entire rack assembly, which is $945. Not doing that.. Any suggestions are welcome..

On a side note, they also told me they are no longer using dextron II/III for the power steering. They use an ATF for flushing and then re-fill will a PS fluid.

Go to a place that makes custom hydraulic hoses and pipes. That should be an easy job for them.

Alright, so I have taken the line off and done just about anything that could be done with it. I am going to buy a new rack/pinion..

Anyone have a good recommendation for a rack/pinion with all the fixings for a decent price?? Found a couple aftermarket remanufactured racks for $250-400 and the OEM for about $650. Going to replace myself but unsure as to who makes a good reliable rack.. Appreciate the help

 

Have you checked Rock Auto.. They have several listed between $180- $300

 

Just a thought. I hate to see you replace the whole rack for one little leak..... Bring it to a decent shop and ask them for a quote. They may be able to fix it with their knowledge and tools in less than an hour ??
