    Not a specific place no, it really is up to you. It has to make a solid connection to the frame in the front and rear bolted down solid.

    There is I think an inaccurate bit of information from the manufactures that call those things "isolators". It is a solenoid, yes, and TECHNICALLY you could call it an isolator considering when the solenoid is not energized, then the connection is "isolated", but a TRUE battery isolator is a solid state device that allows a single alternator to charge two batteries, while keeping the two batteries "isolated" from each other.

    If reworking your ground does not fix the problem, check the AC ripple directly on the +12 volt output of the alternator. If great than .5 volts (500 millivolts), then check the power cable to the battery or alternator for some open diodes. Excessive AC ripple on the DC power can cause sensors and other electronics to do strange things.

    Finished mine, I'll switch batteries around so the optima is for the engine and the platinum is for the sound system

    It's because of the 4link suspension, the differential goes all the way up and the upper link mounts go throughout the bed

    Yeah I think Glass fenders are rather tasteful and don't look bad at all. IM just worried about using Glass for crawling. mounting, Trees etc.

    Same. No snorkel comparable version yet either. Been 15 years since I worked with glass either. Cutting, making a form, layering, brushing , setting, sanding, .... Boy that stuff was harsh.

    Protect how? I like to use braided loom. There are all different types of the loom also. Kevlar, heat resistant, burn proof, UV etc.

    Just some protection so its not just the cable in the bed, just to protect them from dirt, rocks, water all that shit

    Bill's point is well taken. I would just add that manual switches and electro mechanical solenoids/relays require using identical batteries, form a high contact resistance over time, and create voltage spikes when switching. If not properly cooled or waterproofed, electronic isolators are subject premature diode failure. Better quality ones use Schottky diodes to minimize the voltage drop affecting charging. Isolator sizing matters.

    Hey guys, been doing a lot of reading, and see people doing it both ways. I'm looking at getting a dual battery set up, and wondering which battery to put the winch to.

    I have several accessories hooked up to my one battery now, including an amp, fridge, and winch.

    i'm slowly moving all electrical to the aux battery...keep only starter and winch on main

    but i have still my main fuse panel, starter, winch and compressor to the main and two aux panels going to the secondary battery for all my lights, amp and bed 12volt.
