I'm in the market for another 1st gen tacoma. I have seen some tacomas with the sr5 package but with no badges for the TRD package but have the bucket seats with a center console. I remember reading somewhere that only the TRD packaged trucks had the bucket seat set up?

In other words, did they make 1st gens with buckets and non TRD?

Any clarification would be great, Thanks.

My SR5 has buckets and console, but then options seem to change every year.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
They aren't really any different I don't think. Second gens have the noticeable interior differences between the two packages. My SR5 has buckets and a console.

Sorry for jacking this thread (Im a newbie) I just bought a 03' Tacoma ext cab black, SR5, 4x4 w/ 5 speed. It does not have the TRD sticker. I have the cd/tape deck, no power windows or locks but the 60/40 bucket seats. So would it only be the power windows and locks that made it different or would the suspension have been an upgrade as well? I just orderd the interior door panels with power and will be converting that as soon as they come....after buying this truck I am a 1st gen Tacoma junkie !!!

if you're asking what the TRD package added, yes the suspension was actually one of the main upgrades. in addition to a rear locker button.

I have a non-trd non-sr5 v6 99 with buckets and console. My buddy has a 2000 sr5 trd, and the interior is the same except his has power windows and locks, and little red lights below the door arm rests that light up when you open the door.
Other than that the first gen trd's come with a better skid plate package, bilstein shocks, and the rear e-locker.

I have a 2003 sr5 than is no different than a TRD. I have bucket seats, center console, rear diff lock, had factory bilstien shocks with front progressive coils. I have power windows/locks, had factory cd/cassette radio. I can't find a difference between my sr5 and a TRD badged Tacoma.

Then you have a trd package that someone took the trd stickers off. trd packaged tacomas in the first gens had rear locker. And better suspension and a sticker package.

In 1999, there was a top-of-the-line Limited, which had everything except the locker, unless it also had the TRD package.

That's called base. And it sounds like it kind of sucks. No tachometer? That's like driving blind for me. I'm on the tachometer more often than I look at my speedometer.
