This is true. Kitkat 4.4 does work. Since my last post I updated my phone to a more recent version of CyanogenMod. It is a much stabler version & text & email readouts work fine with my Samsung Galaxy S3. I'm still having a issue getting all my contacts & their picture to sync. The sync issue is intermittent. The text & email readouts are flawless.

Update; Called Toyota this morning and talked to Richard who advised to removed the phone from the system, added again and accept any and all notifications. Did that and the phone was able to load messages and read them back to me. Short lived however - it would not work once leaving and returning to the car. So from where I stand. The text message loading and reading capability works when initially adding the phone to the system but fails to operate at reconnect. Again, any thoughts?

Yea I was disappointed also when I realized my Entune unit was not the same one that was in the 4 runner that they loaned me while I was waiting on my Tacoma to come from another dealer.
I have the plus version with weather and traffic (which sucks). The weather is decent but sometimes off. The XM, Bluetooth, phone is all great.
I can stream my iTunes and Pandora via Bluetooth and all the steering controls Etc work. No problems. Wish I had the full Entune but I didn't order my truck so it is what it is. I'm pretty happy with it.

I have an ATT iPhone 5 and everything works via Bluetooth.
Make sure you check your Bluetooth settings and give the truck full access.
I can skip songs, go back Etc using iTunes and pandora.
I'm sure any other music app would be the same.

Update2. Related to text messaging with the Galaxy S4, after removing and reconnecting the phone a second time, the system seems to collect messages and read them as needed. A little perseverance apparently paid off. I would keep removing and reinstalling the phone while accepting all notifications until it sticks.

The brochure lists the Entune Audio as having a 6.1-in. touch-screen and the Plus and higher list a 6.1-in. high-resolution touch-screen. Nothing in the Entune page notes any difference. Is there really a difference in the displays?

    Thanks.

Same here... just realized it now... I also tried to register and was informed my VIN wasn't recognized, now I know why!

    Well this sucks...

Time to ditch this beast and get something aftermarket?

Go under your bluetooth settings in your phone and turn on show notifications.

Who makes the Etune Audio Plus for Toyota? I want to add a amp and subwoofer to mine 2014 Prerunner TRD.

I also got sucked in by the entune moniker and like many of you, I thought about upgrading the head unit to the entune with nav/app suite. When I contacted the service department at my local Toyota dealer, I was informed that switching out the head units would not make a difference. I'm not sure why, since I have the same satellite receiver that the next level of entune radio has. I have a 2015 Tundra CM SR5. If anyone has actually upgraded from the entune audio plus (I have the weather and traffic apps) to the entune with the app suite, please let me know how it was done. I just recently bought the truck and am a little pissed about the labeling of something being used as a selling feature, and extra $$, and then not living up to it's name.

You can upgrade to a nav unit and just move over your sat receiver to the new unit, but in order to get the actual entune apps to work you have to use a VIN from a truck that came stock with a nav unit when you set up your account/the app on your phone.
