So I am new to the tacoma life I have a 2015 trd or an I want to lift it I was looking in to the toytech boss suspension lift with chaos uca Dakar spring pack and the boss coil over and boss rear shocks. This kit comes with sway bar relocation kit a diff drop and rear axle shims. But on the other hand for nearly the same price I can get get icon stage 1 coil overs and rear shocks icon upper control arm and Dakar spring pack and mounting hardware? Which route should I take? If I go with icon do I need a sway bar relocation diff drop and rear axle shims.

    Thanks in advance

Go icon. night and day over toytec from what I hear. Both are good lifts but icon gets my vote hands down. No need for sway bar relocation or diff drop you won't know if you need shims till after install and alignment just get the kit minus that junk.

I've heard a bunch of people say to NOT install the diff drop kits. Not sure why though.

Does anyone have any better options for the rear leaf pack? And I am trying to research the reach axle shims and the sway bar relocation but can't find anything useful all opinions wanted

I looked at exactly the same options and went Icon 1 with Light Racing UCAs, with Toytec's cheap 1.5" AAL in the rear. Haven't installed it yet though, but the Toytec folks are fantastic. You need the sway bar relocation kit which comes with the Icon Stage 1 kit, but no need for the rear axle shims. I opted to do the diff drop, it's $60 and easy so why not.

Lots of options for rear leaf packs. Deavers if you don't haul much weight but want a good ride, or dakars if you haul weight. I ran the deaver 3 leaf AAL and was happy with it for what it was.

Awesome thanks I plan to go with the icon for sure on shocks I was also looking at all pro rear leafs there not terrible on the pricing. Mine will mostly be a street princess but the 2-3 times a year I get her off road need her to out perform my friends. Thanks for all the info so far. What do I gain or loose from a different drop?

If you do any kind of leaf pack you'll need extended rear brake lines. You can get away without them for a bit but if you are going to be flexing at all I would advise getting them. Steel braided kevlar ones from toytec is what I have.

Also all pro leaf packs and dakars I have heard are pretty much the same, love my dakars.

To add to this, it actually "rotates" the diff at an any that critical intervals don't get the necessary lubrication causing damage. Why they sell them for 2nd gens is beyond me.

What they said. Diff drop is no bueno. Additionally you'll have trouble with skid plates too.
I would go icon. From what I've heard they are awesome! You're on the right track though, so many people come in here asking about spacer lifts haha

No way spacers are for the birds I want my lift to be usable not just some plastic disc. What about rear axle shims do I need them and with what I mentioned so far will I be solid? And is stage 2 with the price to go with aal or is stage one with Dakar pack a better route

For 2nd gens if going with Deaver DO NOT LET ANYONE steer you to the J66 leafpack, it is truly a pile of shit, not sure if they even still make that model but if they do avoid at all cost...

Depending on how much lift there is in back you shouldn't have to shim anything, my experience has been with 3" & below, no vibe issues requiring shimming, anything over 3" may be an issue tho'...

Agreed. I went AAL and now regret it. Going to a new lead pack soon.

    What he said

If you do an AAL at least get a 3 leaf progessive but a full leaf pack is by far the best way to go, way better than AAL. Had my Icon 3 leaf progressive for 2.5 months and switched to dakar, so much happier.

there are not a lot of lifts out there for the 2015 Tacoma so as long as I get something for the 2005 or newer it should fit correct that's what most websites say?
