I have a 2015 Taco Sport with the Entune radio with touch screen. Is there a way to use a map program on my iPhone 5 and link my Entune screen so I could use it like a GPS?

Not possible without a third-party head unit with an HDMI input (or some pretty extreme hackery of the stock head-unit to feed a different video signal in).

I've seen a few mods where people have replaced the stock head unit with an ipad mini.

I was hoping it could be done with blue tooth? Since the iPhone is able to supply music to the head unit using blue tooth.

Check out Apple CarPlay. It's available aftermarket now and will likely be an factory option in the near future.

entune isn't really all that powerful. It can handle audio but transferring graphics/video ain't happening, especially over Bluetooth. That's A LOT of data to deal with.

What do you think the odds are that Apple Car Play will be added to the current Entune setups via a future firmware update? I ask because like the OP, I would love to be able to share my nav from the phone with the Entune screen. I'm just not sure if Car Play requires additional hardware or not.

Don't think it's even possible, so I think the chances are none.

Like others have said, your best option would be to wait for an aftermarket CarPlay headunit and swap it with your stock one. Entune is running on a different platform, and the chance of getting Apple's CarPlay OS to run on it is slim and would require a LOT of customization, if it's even possible. It would be great if hardware/software was open enough across brands to do the kind of thing you want to do here, but then these companies wouldn't be making as much money as they are.

Pretty sure Entune is Microsoft based... more than likely will not happen.

You'll definitely have to go aftermarket unless Toyota implements CarPlay with the current headunit configuration, in which case there's a slight chance it could be swapped out fairly painlessly.

Not sure why Toyota would allow apple maps/google maps on the headunit, kinda undercuts the purpose of them selling the navigation no?

Entune is garbage, I would not expect much from it. If it's anything like my has never worked traffic app, just be glad that Bluetooth works.

Not to hijack the thread, but I've been wondering the same thing about the police scanner channels you can get on the internet, and whether I could listen to them on the truck's stereo with my iPhone connected via bluetooth. I'm guessing the answer is no, and I need to just get a mobile scanner. Which works for me.

Bluetooth cannot handle a data rate high enough to support any kind of video.

The connectors don't mate correctly and the seller on Amazon I bought this from isn't returning emails. Trying to exchange it. Have called Crux about it and awaiting a return call from them.

I bought this from an Amazon 3rd party seller, and am in the process of returning it. Here is my review on Amazon.com

"First off, the connectors to interface with my factory harness were so tight I had to squeeze them together with pliers. After installing, it wouldn't switch the display as described. Never got video output to my head unit with this product. Another problem is in the design. You can't stream Bluetooth with an iPhone while using this product. Tech support at Crux is the rudest I've ever encountered. They can't believe their product could have a problem and would do nothing. Luckily the seller is taking it back, but I'm losing shipping both ways. 3rd party sellers on Amazon aren't all the same."
