I've had some crappy wheels on my yota since I got it, and I'm finally getting some stock ones for only $100. I'm planning on painting them black and I was wondering what kind of paint I should use. I don't really want to deal with plasti dip. I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions for the best matte black paint I could use that would hold up really well?

There are lots of good quality paints out there, but it is the prep work that is the key if you want the paint to last.

Krylon Fusion, no question about it. Going on a year now with their gloss black and it has held up VERY well. Make sure you prep well, get "all the shiny" off your wheels before you paint. I just used green scotch brite pads, then cleaned them off really well with soap and water, then windex and paper towels.

If they are the alloy stock wheels you should use zinc chromate as your primer.

I'm really liking the look of the VHT matte black wheel paint I used. Not flat, not glossy. Just right. It matches a nice satin tire shine beautifully.

Plasti dip them! Mine look amazing and hold up awesome. I like the matte finish though

The only thing you have to watch out for is any direct contact. Stuff is great and I've plastidipped two cars' wheels before, but it just doesn't hold up to anything but a hand wash and street driving in my experience.

I used tremclad primer, duplicolor paint, and clear on my truck. Holding up good to alot of offroading. Not a single chip after 2 months. On my car i actually used spray on bed liner (ez liner from canadian tire) shines up nice with tire foam or matt as it.5745208F-E1A4-4F9D-A80A-5C4AA732A532_zps_f8bfc2e67a1e28c9de4df2e23b9e8366dd08558e.jpg
