What about first Gens? And by dropping the differential are you lowering the ground clearance defeating the purpose of the lift?

There are things that hang lower than the diff anyway. You wont loose anything.

Is it considered necessary on a 1st Gen (1996)?

Suggested when at or over 2.75" on a 4WD 1st gen.

    Jandy,

Good morning, I'm looking at a lift like most everyone one else here lol. And I keep reading about these Differential Drop kits when doing a lift are recommended but others say there not so I'm trying to determine the facts.

My desires are a lift somewhere around 2" to 3" and a better suspension than stock. My offroading will be mainly back road with little improvement during hunting season. My truck will be a DD and see improved roads probably 80% of the time.

My Budget will be around $1000 bucks and i'll probably still run the new 31's I have on her now.

    Any suggestion?

    JAL,

I think the Fox 2.0 kit will work great for you. Under 900 for the set of four shocks, it will give you the adjustibilty you want with a great ride.

There is also a new Bilstein kit coming out soon that will be priced close to that of the Fox and includes massive 2.65" BTS coilovers, similar to whats on the Baja TX tacomas right now.

    Chas,

Thanks for the reply, is there a site to see the kits and when is the Bilstein available?

January. They are not released yet so no real info, they arent even on Bilsteins site. Total Automotive Performance will be the first in the country to offer them. Price is looking really nice! I am currently testing these for Bilstein.

Tell me more about the kit. Will it include leafs for the rear along with struts? Is this similar to the BOSS system? What is BTS?

Bilstein Tuned Suspension - Front 60MM coilovers, rear 5160 reservoir shocks are whats included in the standard kit. We can pair these with longer 5160 to match with a Dakar leaf pack, ICON pack, etc. Its much larger than the BOSS system shocks and should perform better on and off road.

WOW! Just checked out your site and talk about suspension parts out the wazoo. What a selection. All I see in FOX are two coil-overs. Do you have any kit part numbers for front and rear with UCA's?
