I'm going to have a custom tire gate welded onto my All Pro rear plate bumper so I don't have to sacrifice my spare. Obviously though, it will block my rear camera. Anyone pull it out of the tailgate and mount it on a swinger?

I just got a swingout and will try to relocate the camera sometime this weekend. I was thinking maybe I could pull the camera out and the wires would be long enough to reach the license plate. I'll try and make a little bracket to mount the little camera on.

This is all I could come up with. It works fine though. Still have to paint the alum bracket black. It's all held on with heavy duty 3M two-way tape so no holes had to be drilled. That's as far as I could go toward the center of the tailgate because you still have to leave enough slack in the wire to open and close the swingout.

I also rubber taped and then Scotch 33 black taped it to try and waterproof the camera wires.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
You can easily remove the camera and then weld a thin plate screw it back into. You would need to extend the wiring harness but it's a pretty simple 4 wire setup. I am building a swingout now and working on mine..

Just to follow up on this I relocated my camera today. Works great and took about an hour from start to finish.

I used a small piece of 20 GA steel to build the mount for it and cut out the required holes for the camera to go in. It is attached with 3m tape right now until I'm sure I have the position right then I will tack it in place.

Had to extend my harness about 3 foot since I swing from the left vice the right. I bet you wouldn't need to modify the harness if you have yours from the right.

    Here are some pics.
