Those are susceptible to leaking. I do not recommend those. Better off getting aftermarket oem replacements and doing the bhlm. Those will work, if you're very careful when getting them and reseal them. Or they WILL leak.

If your not willing to do any of the work yourself, then you have 2 options.

1.YOUR BEST OPTION: pay somebody to install projectors the right way and pay about $1000.

    2. You could buy some crappy headlights, like the ones that you have pictures of in the first post, and have horrible light output and have leaking housings.

If you build your own headlights, you will save a lot of money and be very pleased with the light output and durability. Those lights that you have pictured above are notorious for going out, leaking, and having crappy light output. But it's your truck so you can do whatever you want. Everybody here is just trying to get you to do the best for your truck.

Your best bet, is to get those lights you pictured, if you don't wanna spend more than $200, and just seal them up better. Guys suggest silicone on the outside edge, but I don't recommend that. That would be the easiest thing to do if you're not wanting to do much work to them. But really I highly suggest you actually bake them and split the lens, and use some butyl rubber to seal them properly. then they will be alright. Output won't be great, but it'll be black and sealed up tight, and last until you save up enough for a proper retro. But at the same time if you're willing to do that, you might as well get oem type and paint the inside black yourself since you'll be splitting them. And that is pretty darn easy. Then all you have to do is rattle can the housing. And it'll probly have better output than the crappy halogen projectors. If you still want more light later on, it would be cheaper to get a led light bar tied into your high beam switch. That will be the cheapest and safest route if you want to save money.

However..Retros are really nice. But a bit of work. And not always 100% guaranteed to last without fail and having to service them. I've had a few problems with mine. Mostly due to the led halos going out that I have. If you do consider a retro in the future, and want the cheapest fool proof setup, I suggest the minis, with no other led halos or anything inside leaving only the bulbs to be serviced. That way you most likely will never have to split the housing to do service.

Honestly I dont mind having stock lighting as long as the housing is black, like in the BHLM. However, i dont trust myself to do the mod. Is there a way of simply buying a black housing, no lights, or something like that?

Yep. I would put them in first to see how you like them. Before you seal them. That way you can return them if you don't like the output.
