Hi everyone, I've had my new black 2015 TRD Off road Tacoma for about a month now and about 2 weeks ago I had a rock come up and hit my front bumper on the right a little below the headlight. I'm wanting to get it fixed, It's not that big but it's noticeable if you look closely. The only question that I have is that I'm pretty sure the front bumper on it is a strong plastic and not a metal. If it is metal please correct me. But its deep enough that it has removed the paint and you can see a grey-ish color where the paint used to be. How would I go about getting this fixed? Would it be something that I'd just have to live with it being there, or is it something I could fix pretty easily? I know it'd probably be pretty cheap to fix on my own but I'm definitely open to paying someone to fix it, I've heard it'd be about $60 but never mentioned to any of the body shops that I think the bumper is plastic. Long story short I just want to know if it'd make a difference on what paint I'd use or how I'd fix it. Thanks!

Here's a picture below, the flash messed up the view but you get an idea of how big it is. About as long as a quarter and about as wide as the thickness of two quarters side by side.

Alright thanks I'll have to look into that. Do you know if the front bumper on the new tacomas is plastic or metal? Felt plastic to the touch but not 100% sure. Guess I could look it up and find out. Just in case that would make a difference on the method I used to fix it.

Just go to the dealer and get a color match touch up paint and do it yourself, about the cheapest fix and you have it for the next chip; and it will happen again sorry to say,

Yeah I'll probably pick up some touch up paint from them. And oh yeah it definitely will, especially in Alaska with all the gravel they put on the roads in winter to lessen the slickness of the roads. Just trying to fix them as they happen.

If you are going to keep the stock bumpers, look into 3M clear vinyl or an equivalent to protect your paint. It is a bit pricey but, worth it for those of us that are stricken with lethal ocd.
I had 1/4 of my hood and all my front facing fogs and head lights covered with 3M for a bit of protection.

Most people would probably just leave it and get over it but oh yeah with my ocd of the cosmetic condition of my tacoma I think it'd be worth getting it.
