    Hey guys,

I was curious if anyone has tried to swap a 2012+ steering wheel over to 2005-2011 tacoma.

    From this:

Would there be any problems with wiring? the airbag? fitment? controls?
Let me know if anyone has done this or if it is even possible

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I think the wheel hub and spiral cable may be different. Perhaps the whole column can be swapped.

Hmmm. Interesting. That seems very expensive!

I went into the Toyota dealer near me earlier and talked to a guy in the parts department. He quoted the prices for me:
    2012+ steering wheel ~$350
    New Airbag assembly ~$795
I guess adding the controls would be expensive though

I was thinking the whole thing would total ~$1500 installed...

Maybe there is a wrecked 2012+ out there with a perfectly functional steering wheel that I could use

What are you talking about? $2000 for a steering wheel is too much

If you get the steering wheel with only the radio controls (volume, change station/album mode)
All you need is the new wheel with controls and airbag...it's the same clockspring (spiral cable)
I've thought about doing this as well because I like the way the new steering wheels look but I never got around to it...money spent somewhere else

1st gens are good trucks but you can't compare the first to the second gens.

I have an 07 but no radio controls on the steering wheel. Wish it was easy to add it.

I'd just leave it. This looks great the way it is.

I agree, it does look nice. I personally think the older one feels big and bulky. Good to know that the swap would work though.

Makes me want to go pull mine and my buddy's '13 and see if they'll swap.
