    How it sits currently:

The truck came from family in Chicago, which is why I had a rusty frame. I'll get to that later. I was fortunate enough to get my truck from my parents on my 15th birthday and enjoyed it by myself for a short time until I found this site. Then everything changed. Ever since, my money gets spent much faster and my parts list never ends! Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to ask me anything!

Some good info I am saving here for reference

First thing I did was remove the roof rack and throw it in the attic.
    IMG_0081_zpsf10b9030_0afd388b1c887bd88269e4e65c5aa55417bdd509.jpg

Next I removed the goofy blind spot mirrors and the shell. Looks much more like a truck without it!

Put the shell on for deer season the first year I had the truck.

The first (and only so far) time I sunk my truck. I flooded my interior and destroyed my alternator. Oops.

Then I got a new frame! :woot: Thanks to the Toyota rep for taking a few pictures for me. I was the first frame swap they had ever done! Kudos for Toyota of Plano for not messing up on their first try.

New bumper!!! :woot: :woot: Trail Gear Low-Profile with light hoop. This is copied from a thread I made about it. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/289655-my-take-trail-gear-bumper.html

I had always liked plate bumpers. I really wanted an Elite, but I could not afford it. I then looked at the All Pro APEX bumper, but still couldn't afford it. I then decided to go with a Trail Gear Low-Profile bumper with the light hoop. After looking at other people's trucks with the bumper, I decided to put some diamond plate on the top to fill it in.

Here is the bumper when I brought it home

First thing on the agenda was to get the light bar welded on.

Next, came the top plates. I don't have a picture of my mock up cardboard, but here's this.

    Driver side:

    Passenger side:

Now was about the time when i started getting ideas. I didn't like being able to see the washer fluid container and didn't want to modify it. More plate! But first, mock-ups

After doing all that to both sides, I had tons of plate left. I decided to fill in the smaller triangles on the front. I forgot to take close-up photos of those at the time. They can be seen in the finished product photos. Here, we are welding in the plate permanently.

    All finished!

Off to the powder coater. I decided to take my wheels at the same time since the paint I put on them last year had started to flake off and they looked really bad.

Everything is finished! I went with a light textured black for the bumper and a non-textured satin black for the wheels. Great combo in my opinion.

Got everything mounted back up! I love how it all turned out! And yes, I know the skid plate isn't there. I have to find some new bolts to mount it up with.

I also did the "fog light mod"...sort of. I moved my turn signals to the corner lights and secured them with plastic weld and epoxy. Pics to come later. I also trimmed the plastic inside the wheel wells that extended too far.

Here are some pictures showing my turn signal switchbacks. This is the guide I used to do it. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/186115-free-blinker-light-relocation-mod.html

I installed my Warn XD9000i. Did quite a bit of trimming in order to get it to fit.

Then this happened very quickly after the winch went in. OME 883/Bilstein 5100 set to 0" of lift. Toytec adjustable shackles set to the maximum 2.5".

After the lift, my exhaust was interfering with the leaf pack, so I eliminated that issue.

Installed a Uniden Pro505XL CB in the ash tray, a RadioShack speaker where the clutch petal would be if I had one, and a FireStik 3' FireFly(flexible) antenna. I used the FireStik hood hinge mount to mount the antenna. For a flexible antenna, it is still too stiff for my liking so there's a RadioShack CB spring on it now.

Window tint. This is a much needed mod in Texas. The summers are unbearable with no tint. I was tired of sweating my butt off. 20% rear and 35% front.

I got me some more light! OKLED 12" combo beam bar. I am VERY happy with the amount of light this thing gives off.

Here's a video of the intake with the mods I've done. I used a GoPro Hero 3+ Black edition under the hood to capture the sound and my phone to record the tack and spedo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogkKhcFKPnA&list=UUbnRmJnfwvxPeVyNND6VJ3g

Homemade IFS skid plate! This skid is made out of a single piece of 3'x4' 3/16" steel. This is my first try at welding, so I am quite excited. I bent up the tabs by cutting halfway through the metal, then welding the seam. Credit due to Box Rocket for that idea! I would also like to thank Pliny for all his help on this project. Their build threads can be found at http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...en-builds/1st-gen-builds/1st...doublecab.html and http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...en-builds/1st-gen-builds/1st...bs-thread.html If anybody needs help with making one, I have some good sources saved on my email I can send you. I made a cardboard cutout and then traced it on the metal. I don't have pictures of every single step, but I think it should be pretty self explanatory what I am doing.

    Now to the photos! :woot:
