    Yes sir, will do. :D

Gas spills universally suck. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Not the skinny side, rather like the picture, broad side down. I know it seemingly defies conventional wisdom, and admittedly, I don't see it done that often in the U.S. However, in other parts of the world they seem to do it without too much trouble.

Pictured below is a Land Rover Defender with (8) Fuel cans on the roof while touring the Empty Quarter in the Saudi Arabian desert.

Thank you. Your the third person who has experience with the Scepter and not reported leaks, so that's good. The rotopax seem very popular and they seem to fill a niche with the unique form factor, which gives them an advantage for unique mounting opportunities. I've considered them in the past, but it is rare that I need to carry extra fuel. For the right price, I'd buy them. I'm planning a return trip into Death Valley soon, and that is the one place I make sure I carry extra fuel. Before I had my truck shell, I'd transport the fuel upright in the truck bed.

Well I can think of one more test I can do. And that is dry out the can, fill it with fuel, place the can broad side down in my back yard and in the sun for a day or two. Maybe put a 25 lb. plate on it to increase pressure?

Its a pelican 1720 case. Made for shorter rifles and such. I just took the foam out and safeguarded it for later. The case now carries spare fluids, tow straps, tree saver, jumper cables, hi-lift accessories, etc. It is bolted to the TSLOT channels on the rack's crossbars through the bottom of the case.

Are those clamp on style or do you have to drill to mount them. I would mainly be concerned about how to mount more than one crossbar since you are only an extra cab. Are you willing to drill a few holes in the roof?

yeah id have to drill the holes to mount those landing pads, unless u have a way i can just mount your rack to the roof and drill them in, i just worry about leaking, they have some "gasket" thingys that seal the landing pads but those suckers are so pricey..

I definitely have some ideas. We will have to get together one afternoon to do some measuring and look at some stuff.

sweet dude, i probably wont be in a position to buy anything till around summer, but well keep in touch, ive always loved the versatility and low profile design of your rack system, i just hate how the yakima and stuff is to high up, looks out of place imo..

Yeah, I am finding more and more too that by the time you buy all the parts for a yakima setup you could have easily bought a rack like mine or Bajarack. There was a thread a while back that was a second gen guy. With the towers, crossbars, fairing, and fit kit for his vehicle he spent like $500 for thule stuff. Totally not worth it IMO. Maybe Santa will help you out with some funds for a rack!

I know you guys already talked about gas cans, but I use the nato metal ones. Imports... not the shit ones with the external lip. I have had them in the cab for days, and had them on their side in a toolbox for months. No fume smells or leaks. Sold my plastic scepter ones after I tried one out.

I have the same ones. I picked up an extra one at this sports shop near BFE at Moab last year. Looks identical to the imported one I have.

I've read a lot of good reviews from them. It will just be nice to have the flexibility of it. I will most likely keep a pair of jumper cables in the truck too. This will just be easier, especially if I am by myself.
