Fuel intake problems

Ever since I got my 1996 2.4 Tacoma I have been experiencing some problems with the engine sputtering when accelerating or going uphill and sometimes stall when idling. A forum member advised me to replace the fuel filter suggesting that the symptoms could point to a clogged fuel filter.

Also, a check engine light came on, P0171 engine running lean.

Now I looked everywhere but I can't identify the fuel filter. Unless this is the fuel filter?

(BTW I checked two other common causes for P0171, like a leak in the air intake or a dirty MAF sensor.)

 

follow the fuel line close to the battery, it goes down under the intake manifold and that is where you will find the fuel filter. even knowing where it is you can barely see it. use my relocation mod to move it in plain sight on the drivers fender so you have easy access to it in the future
