To remedy your TPMS light issues, from not having the sensors installed... This is a $6 fix in takes 5-10 min.

Go to Harbor Freight and buy this wheel/tire:
Haul-Master - 10 in. Pneumatic Tire with White Hub - 30900 Deflate the tire

Unbolt the (2) halves of the wheel

Insert the TPMS sensors between tube and the tire's sidewall
-make sure the sensor side (soft side) is against the tube
-make sure the casing side (soft side) is against the tire

    Reassemble wheel
-make sure the sensor isn't touching wheel

    Inflate to desired psi...
-Place behind or under seat in vehicle

TPMS light should go off within moments
-no harm to sensors or vehicle

I had to do this because I upgraded from my original 16" steel wheels to my 16" TRD FJ Trail Teams wheels... there are seperate TPMS sensors for OEM steel and OEM aluminum wheels. The sensors are attached to the wheel at different angle. Similar issues may arise with aftermarket wheels. This is a way to turn the TPMS light off.

Same concept as the OP's but with a short pressure vessel made out of PVC pipe instead of the wheelbarrow tire

    No thankyou!

Those tires are good for 2 years at best. Even out of the sun they will lose the air pressure and you will be right back where you started. I really hope people will not go this route. I've used these tires for many projects and they all will either split and blow or just plain go flat.

For the same money, build the pipe bomb mod.

My pipe bomb lasted 2 years, then I sold the truck, probably still will last another 2 years.

    This is not the same

-The tire has a tube in it, that presses against the sensor
-The pipe bomb mod is rather dangerous, dependent upon your abilities and materials

Mine has been great behind my seat since June, no pressure loss as of yet.

Additionally, the tire just being in the cab will greatly increase the longevity.

...I also have these wheels/tires on a tricycle for my niece and nephews to ride when they come over. No issues with those since install in 2010

    Take out gauge cluster
    find TPMS LED
    remove it
    reinstall gauge cluster.

Hey man , I'm not here to rain on your parade , and I applaud you for coming up with your own solution

I don't see how having pressure in the pressure rated PVC pipe bomb is any more dangerous than the same pressure in your $6 wheelbarrow tire though

OP's idea is great. Pipe Bomb method is great. Both should work the same.

To me, just remove the damn LED and call it day. While you are in there you can remove the annoying speaker as well. Takes about 30 minutes to remove an LED out of the cluster.

    I could care less... lol.

...have you seen the lack of ability on forums? People lack some common sense for their personal safety

    None

    Good info,

just a quick question, if we use a sensor with tire that you recomend the TPMS sensor will work as regular ??

Thanks for your quick answer because the original sensor is something expensive with toyota dealer.

Yes, you just slide the (4) tpms units in between the tube and the tire (making sure the soft side of the tpms unit is against the tube).

    Then inflate to 30+ psi

Then place in truck and wait a few sec.. light will go off

Still don't get how the PVC vessel has any more risk to personal safety than the $6 wheelbarrow tire but whatever
