Lets see.... 2 truck frames (Prob max?) per week for each dedicated lift bay used. If, say, 5 bays are used that's 10 frames a week - which gives 30 WEEKS !!! ????

For those of you who had the CRC applied to their frame, were the 2 round holes near the front wheels capped. Please see the attached pictures. There are 2 holes on each side.

    Thanks

I dropped my truck off at the dealer in the beginning of October. I've been driving a Corolla since then. Got the call today that my truck is next in line. Only a few more weeks! I can't wait to have it back!

If you or others need to .... Check/search the threads for the LSC for the CRC coating. There is a pic of the actual process doc. IIR , The caps were listed in the Doc.

Did the dealership install the rectangular plugs on your front wheel wells when you had the LSC crc done?

Sorry all, I failed to see that the larger plugs were install in the picture. My comments were for the larger plugs.

When they did my LSC for the CRC, they didn't go by the document you are referring to, so that is why I asked if he had the larger plugs installed.

I talked to the general manager at the dealership and he said those plugs aren't in their documents to install them. I talked to Toyota and asked them why newer Tacoma trucks have the plugs installed, but they don't install them when doing the LSC?

Toyota has never given me an answer to that question, when I know the newer Tacoma's had them install to prevent corrosion to the frame.

In the attached doc - which was listed in TW - it calls for the plugs (page ~ 26 I think).

Any chance you could get a pic of this? There has to be a ton of variety in 300 05-08 2nd gen Tacomas, it might be interesting to see.

I can't even believe a dealership would have an overflow lot big enough to hold them all.

short story, i am in possesion of my father's 2002 tundra at the moment and took it for frame inspection. It passed but they coated it with CRC and it is terrible. 2 weeks later and it still feels wet and sticky. My vote is for a new frame or nothing.

    Hi Markcal,

Yes the dealer installed the rectangular caps (pieces of foam) when they did the CRC.

Well I put mine on the lift today just to check it out. The frame all in all doesn't look that bad there are certain areas that have some heavy rust. The only place that really concerns me is on the right rear of the frame where it is doubled. It looks like it is buckling from the rust between the pieces. I unfortunately forgot to get any pictures. Has anyone taken any pictures of this area? I'll try to think about it tomorrow and get some pictures to post.

Spoke with the service rep today; dropping the truck off Monday for the 'official' inspection. Would've done it today but they said 4-6 hours to inspect and get the ball rolling. Was told if the truck is deemed unsafe to drive OR if I don't feel comfortable driving it, a loaner will be provided for the duration. Duration could be anywhere from 45 days to 6 months...

Chance of receiving a loaner truck not guaranteed, but would be "given a toyota" as a loaner. Service rep was very helpful. Much better experience here.

They use plastic plugs on the newer Tacoma trucks and frame replacements, but don't install plugs on the 2 smaller role holes in your photos.

I wonder if using foam, instead of the plastic clip in plugs, would hold up to high pressure spray or just highway driving while it's raining.

I know using foam is a lot less expensive than using the plastic clip in plugs, which retail for about $28 and they will hold up/stay in place much longer than foam.

How did they attach the foam pieces to the frame?

They didn't perform the LSC and CRC using that document when I had mine done. They not only didn't install all the plugs listed, but I was never given the 57 ml driveway cleaner sampler bottle listed and I haven't heard anyone on this forum that ever received one, after the CRC was applied, so I think that might have been a document applying to Canada only, as the person who uploaded it was Dodaminator, from Canada and the document he uploaded with this one said for Canada.

If you look at thread #466, on this forum that Dogaminator posted you can see the first document with the one you posted, said they will extend the warranty to 15 years/unlimited mileage from in service date, on 32,059 vehicles in Canada, if you bring in the vehicle before March 31, 2016. Toyota said they will not extend the warranty on U.S. vehicles, so this must apply only to Canada.

The expansion of the foam is holding them in place.

It is interesting that the 2 smaller holes are not plugged. Water, dirt and salt could still enter the frame.

    Anyone going to plug them?
