I have 2013 steelies and putting on some older (guessing 2009ish) TRD offroad wheels like this one:

I know there is some kind of rig you can do to use the TPMS for steel wheels on other style rims but I can't find it searching.

    So,

    1. What is the way to make it mountable (different angle tpms, I believe)
    2. Anyone have Toyota part numbers for both styles? Will help if I have to end up ordering new ones or going ebay route.

    Thanks guys

FWIW I am going to alloys soon as well, and rather than fighting the TPMS with straps or pipes, I am ordering a set of take off TPMS from eBay for ~$40. My dealership said that they would program them for free as well when I brought the whole set up in for mount and balance.

Are you buying your tires through them, or are they just willing to set it all up with you bringing in your own tires?

Turn the TPMS 180 degrees. Worked for my steel to FJ Cruiser alloy swap.

Just make sure you tell the next tire shop about it so they don't break the TPMS when dismounting next time.

The dealership said that I could bring in my own tires for the swap.

On an '06, Firestone did exactly this. They flipped the sensors from the stock steelies 180 degrees when I had them mount new tires on 4Runner alloys. They were still on there when I sold the truck after a year.

Nice. I'll give that a go, and try to snap a photo or two of the whole thing and write it up. Probably won't happen until next month though. Thanks all.

Well I finally took my TRD OR rims in to do the TPMS swap and get new tires mounted. Shop wouldn't try flipping them 180 degrees, said they didn't want to be liable if they broke. They said $65 each for them to source new sensors. I found these on ebay: ebay TPMS
What do you think? $50 for the oem set sounds pretty good to me.

Sounds good if they are no more than 3 years old. Not sure of typical battery life on the sensors.
