2nd Tacoma, the first is a '99 2.7L PreRunner. A worthy vehicle that I handed to my son to "keep for me":). Great for hauling my Porsche Cayman S' track wheels to the tire shop for balancing, new tires, etc, and to drive after I washed the Cayman and it was raining. :D Not a tow vehicle though so I actually carried my track wheels on the Porsche Transport System that I modified to haul my wheels to the track. Been doing that for 4 years as far as 900 miles one way. But a tow vehicle was in my future and that starts in 2015. My New Porsche support vehicle is a 2011 Double Cab PreRunner TRD Sport with the Factory Tow Package.

Many thanks to those who have shared their knowledge. I have read every post of the Towing Bible thread. I have also worn out the Search which tipped me off to knowing the Brake Controller Pigtail came with the car when new and have gone back to the Dealer that sold it and to make good on the $51 part that was not there. I also know about the rear leaf spring TSB that I will be getting done one way or another. Interestingly enough that is now a recall for my VIN and not just a TSB. Although they are in the "pre" stage to determine final action for customers. The description is for a cracked leaf/leaf failure vs. the Harsh Ride symptom from the TSB. I just want a 4 leaf pack because I'll be towing about 5,000 lbs with the open trailer, the Cayman, and the gear. I just need to get this all done before track seasons starts in March.

Very Nice truck !! what year is the Cayman? Is it an "S" ? I had a 2003 911 base model but sold it as soon as I discovered the IMS problems in the 1999-2005 models. That was about 3 years ago.
Do you go to Road Atlanta for track time ?? I joined Chin Motorsports when I had my 911 but never made it to Road Atlanta when they came ther.

My 911 was THE BEST car I ever drove. Glued to the road like a slot car !! MAN O MAN WAS IT FUN TO DRIVE !!

But I didnt wanna risk catastrophic engine failure so I unloaded it. I then leased a 2014 Camaro 1LE. 444 bhp very fast but no comparison to the road huggin 911

Now I just take care of my 2004 Tacoma.

Its a 2008 Cayman S. I instruct with both Chin and Porsche Club at Road Atlanta. Finest track in North America IMO. The Cayman is also my daily driver. I'm the only guy at work driving a car with 6 point harness, roll bar, and fire extinguisher:cool:... Rod

Sweet combo! Looks badass loaded up!

Along with the TSB I'd throw in some airbags or a new leaf pack all together. You'd have a much easier time towing. Does your trailer have surge brakes?

This x10000. Forget TSB, forget AAL, do yourself a favor and drop 3-4 hundred bucks on a leaf pack. OME Dakar, All Pro, etc. Best money you can spend on these trucks IMO, especially if you're towing/hauling weight. Air Bags are a great addition too, if you are really only using it on-road.

    Btw Nice rigs!

    Thanks!

I have not heard a thing on the TSB other than dealers have thought spring time for news; but I did not want to go just stock. There is a local to Atlanta Tacoma shop here called ACC Garage that recommended the Ironman 4x4 Load Plus Helper Spring kit. They thought this would be a good stop gap while i was waiting for the TSB or going aftermarket on the leaf springs. I measured the the axle to hub under load with car on the trailer both stock and with the Load Plus kit on. Short version is this gave me back within 1/2" of the loss in height I would get in the rear under load with the trailer and car hitched vs no load. Trailer is level and pulls dead straight and no harsh ride once unhitched. Towed over 900 miles and on interstate easily ran 65 to 70 mph. Overall gas mileage was a low of 10 and a high of 12 mpg per tank. Useable range was about 212 miles to a tank. Could not be happier with the way this truck towed this load. Trailer has electric brakes and am using a Tekoshna P2 brake controller hooked into the factory brake controller adapter. Learned all that from here :)

Keeping that in mind but this Ironman mod is exceeding expectations so far for $212 installed.

    Love it!

You may see me in the Cayman around, I work in Sandy Springs :)...Rod
