Okay... so I like to run with my receiver hitches mounted due to frequency of use and the tailgating deterrent factor!
My problem is that I noticed surface rust so I hit it with some anti-rust lubricant and now its so loose the rattling is driving me nuts. I was thinking of lining the hitch shaft with either a plastic or rubber liner (insert condom joke here!) to stop the rattling but don't want to run into problems when I need to swap out hitches or transfer it to my other vehicles.
Has anyone here solved this problem with a simple solution?

They make anti-rattle devices that slip over the ball mount and have either spring or screw tensioner.

    I use the Tri-max anti-rattle hitch pin/lock.
    Two of them actually.

    nothing rattles... evar

I recommend a little blue locktite on the threads
    just so's it can't loosen.

    good choice...
    if running a receiver/ball mount.

But it won't work if using a solid bar ball mount.

    crappy pictures... I know

    improved toyota goodness.
coat it in about a tube of u joint grease(coat the bottom inside of the receiver hold hitch as far against the top as it'll go pull in and out rotate repeat; ocasinaly adding more grease to the receiver bottom) ...will deter theives too. just dont go dropin it on the carpet afterwards. NO rattle. NO rust stuck hitches. seriously though its Really messy and the ideas above are way better.
