Ok guys I am in need of some help. I have a 14 DCSB and on highways with strong cross winds I get a very loud low tone whistle. Yes I have done my home work on here and I read about the TSB that Toyota issued about this problem. So I went yesterday to the dealership for my 1st service (yes I am using the Toyota care). I spoke with the service tech and manager about this. Luckily I have video from inside the truck showing the noise. I informed him that I had done my homework and that there is a TSB about this. He went to his computer and told me that the TSB for the windshield noise was only up to the 2012 model year. He said he hasn't heard of a '14 with this problem and is not sure of the fix. He told me he is going to call a few corporate offices to see if they know of a fix.

Has anyone with a '13 and up model had this problem? If so what was the fix? I love the truck but that noise is soooo loud. Thanks

Same problem in my '14. Doesn't happen that often, but when it does, I just turn up the radio.

Is it windshield noise? Or air blowing in around the side windows? I get the same noise but only in a cross wind

Joey, there are a lot of threads on this - I was just looking for them yesterday 'cause I'm having the same issue! There looks to be a few different issues; one is the black roof molding being loose (the one that runs from front to back, this looks like what mine is) - there also was some debate on door seals and a few other things. I'll see if I can find the link to those threads to help out a bit.

EDIT - here's the link - lotsa good info

I did and was told that the TSB was only up to the '12. Model year. He said it. Didn't cover my '14

This is a very loud horn sounding noise that sounds like it is from the top of the windshield

I had a similar noise that I thought was from the windshield. For kicks, I got some plastic tubing and slid it in the center of the weatherstripping at the top of the grill under the hood. Noise went completely away. There's a thread on what to get for tubing and you'll need to spray silicone to get it to go all the way in.

OP - the link I posted describes that and has solutions to it - that's the same noise I am having in my 2015 as well. There's even a video with the sound for comparison. :D

Vssman, that's the grill whistle. I think What the OP is talking about sounds like a goose is stuck in the dash.

It is too loud to be from the grill. I am convinced it is the windshield and I will give my dealership the name of yours to try to get it done. Then if it comes back I will try some thing else.

Ill ask them for the TSB number when I pick up my truck. See if I can help you out. My tech tells me that it is all about the dealership. Depending on how much of a tightwad the owner is. Something about it being due to TSB work having low reimbursment rates so some owners do their best to turn away TSB requests..

Damn shame but very true - I've seen the docs on TSBs for other autos I have owned - a TSB for a Jeep Liberty diesel that had an issue on the trans front pump - time to R&R the trans was impossible, even for Harry Houdini! Makes you feel bad for the tech who gets the ticket - these folks are doing the same as the rest of us - working for a living to put bread on the table ...

I just got my 2015 DC in Dec 2014 and noticed the whistle sound from the windshield in a strong cross wind wind. Otherwise no noise.

    There are two noises.

    1. the tea kettle whistle sound created by the top of the grill to hood seal. This is easily fixed by some 1/4in dripper pipe line pushed through the seal to create a tighter seal. There is a TSB for this

    2. the kazoo sound created in cross winds. I have had my windshield resealed, to no avail. It honestly seems as if its from the door seals. Unfortunatly there is no current TSB for this.

Guys with the whistle problem, does your GF share any qualities with this girl? Do you roll with the windows down?
