I received a TSB on frame rusting, so I brought in my 2006 this morning and the guy just called and told me there is significant rusting and that they are replacing the frame. He said it's going to take 3-4 months before they receive the new frame, so they offered a loaner for that entire period. Too funny. Just passing on the info.

Sadly that truck will never be the same. I would not trust any of the Techs to put it back the way it came from the Factory. And depending on the dealership they might bust your balls about any mods, accessories, or any worn out parts. So many people are going through this nightmare right now, I do not envy you at all.

Good points, and I was thinking that myself. The only mod I have is 2" spacers in the front. If there are issues after it's done, I will be all over them. (Make them buy me a new rig! lol)

my truck will be getting the new frame this weekend (have been waiting 3 months). i've heard from many others that the truck is like new with the new parts installed. i'm hoping this is the case and i'm hoping they don't break anything when they do the switch over.

Watch they will probably try tell you stuff is broken. One guy on here brought it in for this and now they are telling him he needs a new rack, shocks, etc etc etc. And charging him huge mar up, and labor. Gotta love Toyota reliablity.

Seen and talked to a bunch of people who have had their 1st gen frame replaced. No complaints from them. I wouldn't worry about it, and enjoy the new frame.

Great advice! They told me that the timing case was leaking at &1440 to fix. Even if they are right, I am having my own guy check and fix if needed.

I wouldn't be overly concerned , and having a nice new rust free frame certainly beats the alternative

I hear ya brother if I could get rid of it I would. I went almost 3 years without a Tacoma and didn't research before my current purchase. If I would have known some of the same issues existed that my 2005, and 2010 had. I never would have bought it. And I had zero knowledge of the frame rotting issues when I bought the 2015.

I'll hold off, frame rot or not. It'll get built and not need a frame in a few years most likely.

I was going to do a 3 inch lift, aftermarket wheels and such but changed my mind. It currently has 5100's at 1.75 but that's it.

I don't know why people come up with this 2009 date except for maybe the fact that the current frame recall years are 2005-2008 , so far anyways
