More versatile than a hatchet for camp chores IMO. A good chopper a Bahco, Silky, or similar folding saw (or bucksaw) is a formidable and efficient pair.

Just scored a folding chair with soft cooler, it fits behind the rear seat! And a 12V heated blanket, and a tent to fit in the bed, and a solar charger for my phone.. now to get rid of this damn winter so I can go use it all!

Personally, I've found sleeping bag warmth ratings are hands down one of the most nebulous rating systems ever devised by man! :D

Clearly you've never tried to decipher mileage warranties on tires by extrapolating from UTQG and tread depth.

I would have bought one if I did more camping from vehicles, thing weighs 19 lbs! My 3 person weighs 4 lbs with fly and footprint.

That and putting my husky in a floating tent seemed like asking for trouble, even though his nails stay short from hiking so much

Plus camping on a windy night = midnight seasickness.
    No thanks.

True words right there. My hammock has loops on the sides that I attach shock cord to and then stake down so I don't swing if it gets windy. I need total stillness to sleep properly.

I slept in a hammock on a breezy night a couple of summers ago. We were staying at a camp and it was overcrowded so I volunteered to take the hammock that was down by the river. Wasn't supposed to rain, and it was a nice full moon, so I figured it'd be a nice way to spend the night. And it was, right up until around 2AM when I had a dream that I was in that Inception movie where the buildings all move around on you.
Woke up to a stiff breeze and the hammock swinging back and forth like a pendulum, haha!

Lol. Fortunately around here all we've got is Black Bears, and they're generally pretty people-shy.

As long as you keep all scented stuff off your person (strung from a tree branch, or bear locker if your campsite has one), shouldn't matter, unless they are grizzlies.

Mostly. I have only been in bear country a handful of times, no problems. Grizz country would make me very alert

I got one of these for when I camp in bear country. BEARicuda bin. The bin is pretty beefy! Keeps scents in and is very strong if a bear messes with it.

I'd be curious to see results of a bear trying to get in there. I know they have no problems ripping car doors off.
