    Guys/gals,

I read through 30+ pages of dicussions on Oil Catch Canisters but I came out more confused as to which is the preferred canister by popular vote. I only plan to spend about $100 (give or take) on it and I'd like to get your suggestions. Thanks a lot.

Don't even bother IMO. There are no real gains to be had.

I use the ADD W1 and I think the quality is great for 85 bucks.

yup! I run one on my SC'd truck. Every month I empty the can & I catch a lot of oil that would have been sucked back into the engine.

I can understand in a race application where you are rebuilding motors regularly where you are eeeking out every oz of hp.

But that very small amount of oil mist does a good job of keeping supercharger lobes lubed, intake valve stems lubed, and upper cylinders lubed. If there was really a concern about decreased longevity due to the oil mist the factory would put in an oil / air separator on the PCV line with a drain back to the motor, but the use of the oz or 2 of oil for intake lubrication is welcomed FOR increased longevity.

Probably on one of their turbo applications to mitigate oil consumption.

The reason the factory doesn't put one in is because it would be another part the driver will probably not check. A lot of people hardly check the oil let alone their tire pressure.

again, if oil ingestion from the PCV system was seen as a bad thing, they would put an inline oil air separator (a very simple device, thats essentially a small catch can but with a drain)) and the oil vapor would condense and drip down a drain line back into the motor.

And seriously.... paying 100 bucks for what is a small can with an inlet an outlet and a baffle in the center is insane.

I use the "Saikou Michi" and have been very pleased with the quality of construction and performance. I got the optional ball valve for ease of use, works great. The amount of crap that it catches is impressive. I had a cheap ebay model that was a real POS before getting this one. Being a Master HVAC tech of thirty-five years I understand the design internals used by Saikou Michi. How anyone can think that the stuff this thing captures is "Good" for their engine is beyond me. YMMV

It's oil vapor blowby, for crying out loud! Some guys pay extra to get a top oiler and you've got one built in to the system! If ya just gotta spend your money on something, go buy a bottle of vodka and get a good buzz!
