That's awesome! Congrats! I am also moving away from road racing. Running trail races is so much better for the soul and body.

Twice now I have almost caught a side mirror to the head running the back road around my home. Fucking crazy texting drivers.

    I love that!

Trail running is pretty awesome, my only ultra was a 50k trail race last year. Even though at times it was painful, I loved every minute of it. As much as I love trail running, and have epic trails within a mile or so of my house, I am pure pavement until June 28th, training for Ironman and don't want to take any chances with an oddball injury. It's already weird not running 5-6 days a week, down to 3 runs per week not counting some runs off the bike.

So I'm in Maui. Sulking on TW. What was originally called an infection is now most certainly an awful case of shin splints. I'm supposed to be running a marathon Sunday... Really bummed about my poor health the last two months and having to back out of the AR50 less than 24h after I signed up.

On the plus side it's 80F and gorgeous here.

My gf likes to run at night. Can anyone recommend a reflective harness or blinky set up?

I suggested the ankle wrist things and she shot them down.

Cut & broke off some stuff.
Check out RoadID.com or your local running store.
I run at night a lot in winter since I go after work instead of during lunch break.

    Here's my gear.

    1. Reflective wrist strap with LED light that can be set to either strobe or steady on.
    2. White vest with neon yellow bands and reflective strips. It's a really soft material that doesn't hold moisture. I wear it when running in the rain too, not just at night.
    3. Gloves have neon yellow finger covers and reflective patches.
    4. Had reflective shoe laces on my last pair of shoes. Haven't replaced those since getting new shoes.
    5. Lightweight palm size LED flashlight. (was only $2 at Northern Tool on the checkout lane display)

You could suggest neon colored socks or leggings.
    I've got some of these.

I am a big fan of Nite Ize. I have one of their vests, had big LED bands on the front and back, they can be solid or flashing. Super visible from a long ways away. Pretty much the go to vest for all my running friends. They have lot's of other options as well.

None yet, but its about to get rolling.

I like trails too. No traffic. But like yesterday for example I twisted the piss out of my ankle and I was being careful. Take the good with the bad.

OMG! Someone go running! Come on Big Sky post some pics of some snow runs. We have no snow in Cali.

I have a 50K coming up on the 21st and a 50 miler in April.

I hear Montana is going to get some serious snow!

Ran the first week of C25K last week, today is my rest day, tomorrow starts back my workout days so I'll be running every other day between my workout days.

Got fitted for shoes a few weeks ago, got Brooks Ghost 7's and they are super comfortable.

    Nope, never heard of it.
I am on Map my run, but I'm not sure how to share my feed.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying them so far.

Awesome!!! You'll learn a lot about your body in the process.... you'll figure out what to do to make things easier. At least, I think I'm still doing it!!

I have a pair of Brooks and my husband does also. They're really comfortable especially on my 'bad' feet.

Don't be afraid to 'rest' (both from running & workouts). Your body needs that!!

Ran .45 miles before my workout today and it only took me 3:28, so I'm happy with that, now all I have to do is slow down a little and build the distance.
