    Damn, I'm really sorry to see that happen. I'm glad you and your girl are ok though. This same kind of shit happened to me just not as severe as what you went through.

    Yeah the hitch took the majority of the impact but judging from the distance your truck got pushed and how much damage was done to the front of the car, you probably would be looking at a damaged tailgate, and both sides of the bed in addition to the bumper and the frame if you didn't have the hitch in when you got hit.

    This just makes you want to just reach out and smack idiots that don't pay attention when they drive. :mad:

    Hey man read my thread if you have any questions. Literially I'm going through the same exact thing.

    +1 Bro on that GoPro that will do you wonders so you shouldn't have issues proving what happened an not a dime should come out of your pocket.

    If you need anything PM me I'll be picking my truck up Wednesday I highly suggest that you go to a certified Toyota collision center! They just know things that can work in your favor. Obviously there might be some bad apples but most Toyota certified shops are awesome.

    Glad you and your girl friend were ok. I was driving to Sequoia with my in-laws in the back and my wife up front when I was whacked by some old ass dude in a 3/4 ton Ford van so I feel you. It will be alright man.

    I was rear ended last May, and did not have a dashcam at the time. I do now, and am looking at how to mount a rearward facing camera, shell and new plate bumper limit my mounting options.

    Anyway, in my case the bumper took the brunt of the impact. Though the right bedside had buckled and had to be straightened. What did not look all that bad wound up being almost $4k in damage. Make sure they verify the bedsides are straight, and the tailgate. Also, time for a plate bumper.......
