So my 2011 TRD O/R came with the OEM step tubes. Those looked like pontoons, so I swapped them out for OEM Running Boards.

Now I'm wanting to remove those.

So, the 6 holes in the body that these are mounted to - I'm assuming they originally had a plug/bolt of some sort in there. Does anyone have that specific part #?

Go to parts store find one thats the size of a m8x1.25 bolt and push them into the holes. Same thing pretty much factory does. I had to remove mine when installed my steps

something like this, I left mine open when i removed them.http://www.autozone.com/fasteners/interior-panel-retainer

Thanks for the replies....I picked up 12 OEM plugs at the dealership for a few bucks. I'll clean up around the holes nicely and use a little silicone too...that is if it ever gets above freezing.

Now....is $200 for OEM running boards (mounting hardware included) for a DCSB in very good condition a fair price?

I think so. If I stumbled on a set for an AC on CL at that price, I'd probably jump. I think it's a fair price for the forum, and you could probably easily get more on CL.

Why did you decide to remove the boards? Sliders? or you just didn't like how they looked? I'm considering adding them to my truck, not because I'm wild about how they look (although I like them better than the tube steps) but that I'm thinking about lifting and it's going to be hard for my wife/Mom to get into it when it's taller. I haven't seen a good option for bolt on sliders that will meet my needs and pricepoint.

200 isn't bad I bought and sold for 100 from a local member didn't include bolts though

Had the OEM tubes and didn't like the look. Replaced those in late summer of 2012 with the running boards as they looked cleaner and I thought they would offer some protection from dirt/rocks as I spend a lot of time on dirt/gravel forest/logging roads (no real serious wheeling). I replaced OEM mud flaps with Husky, so I think that will provide the protection I need.

No lift so I don't really use them and I'm sick of my leg hitting them each time I get out of the truck.

Thinking of the CL route for sure.

You could PM me if you decide to let them go. I'm fixing to put some on my 2012 DCSB and I'm deciding if I want OEM or not

They will be coming off, just waiting for a day above freezing so I can wash & plug the holes (with a little silicone).

I'll post them up here for a bit if anyone's interested.

Removed my OEM tube steps last night and left the holes open, is there any risk to that if I only drive roads and highways? I also park in a garage every night.

There were capped plugs that unscrewed on mine ... I am not sure if they are "through and through" the frame or threaded only on the bottom. If you are concerned I am sure that you can pick up "plugs" at your local hardware store.

OEM running boards are worth having if you park around any other vehicles, especially big cars with long, heavy doors...

Did you take them off yet? If so where in Maine are you? I am in NH and might be interested in taking them off your hands.

Not yet - I may keep them on for protection of the lower doors from rock/gravel dings/chips. I spend a lot of time on logging roads up in northern Maine.

If I do remove them, I'll post them on the 2nd Gen marketplace forum.

I love my OEM running boards. Bought them locally from a guy lifting his truck. Got a sweet deal with all the bolts. I think I paid South of $100. My truck had no plugs where the bolts went.
