The same shit everyone else has.
I am planning on adding some ambient footwell lighting in my interior here soon.

Ive been searching around for inspiration and ideas. Ive found some good information and pictures and ideas.

Seems like everyone is using blue LEDs and it looks good -

    DSC_1811M-1_e7f1a965df3dbba0caa67b08371b9104913caa79.jpg

But its just not for me.

Im about 96% sure I want to use amber LEDs to match the rest of the interior lighting. However, I cannot find any good (ie clear, not blurry) pictures of amber footwell lighting.

Anyone have some good pictures of their amber footwell lighting?

I installed some of these in my truck in cup holders, side of each footwell, and a few other places

    Just a few LEDs...
I don't currently have any interior amber lighting, but I have plenty on the outside. I'm still trying to decide if I want a different color on the inside for some contrast.

I'll see if I can rig up some amber LEDs in the foot wells and get some pictures. I might do some in red too.

I did mine in cool white. Much easier to see everything. Glove box and console as well. Not amber but I can see everything. Amber would make things harder to see I think

My orange LEDs in the footwells don't really make anything hard to see. They work really well and aren't distracting at night

I figured they would make some things harder to see. good to know. I don't have mine on while driving, just on with the dome light.

Anyone have dimmers on their lighting, or have really dim lights? Looking for just a tiny amount of illumination like my GF's 2011 VW Golf has...

P.S. if anyone is wondering, lights that are below the dash are perfectly legal...

How did you guys wire these? On their own switch or to come on with the other interior lights? I want mine to come on with the other lights automatically just not sure how I'd do that.

I ended up using 5 of these -

    12v prewired w/ threaded bodies. https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-12v-20ma-4mm-red-led-with-holder?variant=5717556933

They are red, but they match the rest of the interior lighting very well.

I placed one under each side of the dashboard, one under each arm rest to light the door pockets, and one under the HVAC panel to light the cupholder area.

Mine are tied into the illumination circuit so the come on when the dashboard lights are on.

I used http://www.ledglow.com/ in my first tacoma. I really liked them, and they offer a variety of different colors.

Man that looks awesome! What kind of LED's did you used in the floor, strips? I'd really like to see some close up pics of how/where you mounted the lights.

Could you elaborate on this, please? Very interested in how you did that.

Someone school me on this.....are those floor lights lit up when you are driving? If so isn't that distracting at night? I'd think the bright blue/purple lighting would distract me from the car and street lights around me. Too much excess lighting. Maybe I'd have to try it and see I guess

I have my interior lighting on while I am driving and it doesn't distract me at all.

I finally decided to go with red interior lighting for a couple reasons. First red light will not affect you night vision as much as other colors because it does not cause the iris in the human eye to close. The second reason is the red light adds a little contrast to all the amber on the outside and it kind of helps my truck look a little more like my avatar.

I'll try to take and post some pictures soon.

Ive had 2 sets in mine, wired to a 3pos switch to come on with the doors to. First I tried 5mm but they are horrible for that so I swapped em out for strips.
