Oh I completely agree its early for you and you aren't even sure you can at all, only thing is I cant come up with a concrete routine until late spring incase of washouts and closures. So I guess we will wait then

That sucks. Erica ALMOST ran out of PTO for our trip to KS in March.

I need to put the new suspension through a real good test I think.

I thought I was the only one stressing at the end of summer last year. I got questioned by HR for overdrawing my PTO, didn't take any time off for Thanksgiving or Christmas, and ended the year with 4 hours left unspent. :p

This year there's talks of WABDR, this thing, a family camp trip in July, a family camp trip in September... :goingcrazy: I also got invited to some event in Wallowa, but I'm going to turn that down since I don't nearly have the means to do it.

Looks like you will be in this guy's backyard - not sure if you follow him or not but seems a good source of information and worth a contact. I have dealt with him in the past and always quick and complete to answer....looks like an AWESOME trip!!!

Alright thanks ill have to check that out!

Not to sure there is many parts you need a lifted truck for, but you NEED off road tires, preferbly load E range. You'll slash a load C on a rock I bet, by looking at pictures.

How?? You are fine with your D rated tires probably but by looking at a lot of pictures of the road there look to be a lot of sharp rocks. Maybe M3bassman can weigh in on this. Also since the trail is over 100 miles long the last thing you want is to have to use your stock spare

I'm pretty sure my old Maxxis Bighorns were only load C. It took a railroad spike on the Naches trail to pop one.
Also, load range is more related to the weight of the vehicle, not the strength of the construction. Some tires just have thin sidewalls.

I'd also like to say that ShooterMcGavin totally whupped Naches in his stock 4R with ATs. The only thing that ever hung him up was his rear hitch, which is pretty much the only reason he started considering a lift. Unless there's some black diamond rock gardens that Idaho's going to toss at you, I would be primarily concerned with just getting MTs and solid recovery points.

This is the only time we had to recover him, and he knew he was trying too hard of a line

Well either way, I have Hankook DynoPro AT right now and I will be getting 265/75R16 BFG A/T KO2 before then anyway so I should be good. Not concerned with tires just want to make sure I wouldn't be turning around halfway thru due to a rock garden or something.

By stock I mean no Trail Armor, winch or lift. I'll have the proper recovery points and Hi-Lift or Come along with necessary chains etc.

You guys won't find anything on these two trails that requires e-rated tires. Any LT spec tire with decent tread is plenty durable. Even more so if you air down a little bit. Lowering the air pressure allows your tires to flex and conform to the odd shapes of rocky terrain.

The offshoot trail up to Burnt Knob lookout on the Montana Road (Magruder), is the hardest terrain you will face.
