Thanks! I wish I had more time to really work on it, work has me swamped now so I only get an hour or two at a time. Hopefully this friday I will be able to spend all day on it.

Finally had time to burn the tongue in the rest of the way.

Also got all 4 corner gussets burned in and the four corner studs tacked in place. Hopefully I will get the rest of the studs tacked in this evening

Well I finally had some time to work on the trailer this past week. Made some pretty decent progress.

Got the rest of the studs burned in as well as the top rail. I used 45 degree angles up at the front corners (first time to do this), took some fanagaling to get the damn things lined up but I got it worked out.

Then I got the axle mounted up and on its own two feet. Took it for a test drive and it tracked straight with no sway at 50mph so I'll take it.

Last night was pretty productive as well, got the end of the tongue reinforced, used a 1" strip of 1/8" steel all the way around it. Then I added on a handle which is just a square u-bolt cut down and welded on. And to top it all off I got the steel for the floor ready to be drop in and welded in place.

The tongue toolbox should be in this next week so once its here I will add the "triangle" reinforcement to the tongue and the toolbox will sit on it. Seam sealer and bed liner should get here soon as well. Also scored a nice piece of steel from work that should make a great fold down table; just need to find where and how to mount it to the side of the trailer.

Well I have been pretty swamped with things but managed to get some stuff done this past weekend.

(sorry about the fuzzy phone photos)

This is the tailgate, just used the same size tubing as I did for the wall studs and the top rail (1.5" square .120 wall). Then skinned it with the same sheet metal I used for the floor of the trailer (11 GA). I used heavy duty grease-able bullet hinges for it, opens smooth as butter and all together its pretty stout. Next is to make a latch system for it.

I also got my trailer jack in and mounted. Its a Reese Pro series and its awesome. Also it cost half of what other brands jacks did with the same specs. The three selling points to me though were that it was tall enough, a sidewind crank and its removable.

And last but not least I got the triangle arms built for the front of the trailer. I fkn hate angles, because I suck at them, so disregard the fact that its not laid out perfectly, luckily it will be covered by the tongue box.

I found this trailer tongue box on Milota95s trailer build and really liked it and the price of it.

Also forgot to mention, I got the floor of the trailer skinned, I think you can sort of see it in one of the photos.

Thanks! Yeah I have been trying to not go to fast on it, but sometimes I have a couple of hours and just end up making alot of progress. I estimate it'll be street legal and registered by the end of February

I'll make a comment since you did the same thing I did. Maybe it doesn't matter to you, but when I first added my tongue jack I had it positioned very close to where yours is. The problem was it was so close to the triangulation of the frame that I couldn't rotate the tongue jack into the horizontal position for travel. I had to remove the jack completely for driving.

I have since moved the mounting tube forward on the tongue so the tongue jack can stay on the trailer always and be rotated horizontal for travel.

Maybe yours has room and you were better at measuring than I was. :)

Thanks for the tip Adam! Where I put it now I can rotate it to the horizontal position with the foot of the jack facing the truck, honestly though I'll probably end up pulling it off in transit and putting it in the tongue box. It is nice to have both options though.

    Thanks Taco Dan!

SO I had some time to work on it this past weekend. MAde some pretty decent progress. Sorry for more fuzzy photos, one day I'll actually work on it during the day and get some decent pics.

Finally skinned the sides of it. Welding 16ga metal with flux core is a bit of an art.

You can see the latches I made up on the top of the tailgate, pretty crude method but its simple and fool proof. Part of that whole contraption will also work as the mounting point for the tailgate chain.

Also did some wiring as well. I drilled a hole in the bottom side of the tongue tube, loomed all of the wire and then shoved it to the back. Still need to actually mount the lights and wire them up.

And last but not least I painted the underside of the trailer, actually used spray on bed liner. I caulked all of the outter edges with seam sealer before hand to keep rust from building up in the crack. Sorry no pics of that

Random pic, finally got to see some daylight with it.

Should have some pics of the now mounted fenders and trailer lights soon, then its time to paint it and get it registered. Should be going for a weekend trip to break it in soon.
