    So this happened...

Came out after work, fired up the truck and immediately noticed it was way too loud... Got out looked under and sure enough, rear cat was cut out.
    :annoyed:

Already made a police report... Probably won't hear anything tho.

My aunt has her Toyota Sequoia catalytic converter stolen over 3x. Found a guy who going to custom make her a pan that covers the lower area hopefully its a theft deterrent. I'll post some picture when it's completed.

Had the same question, and I found this:
"Thieves take the stolen Catalytic Converters to metal recyclers. The recyclers pay an average of $50 per converter for the precious metals inside them. But certain converters they will pay up to $250.

Victims pay an average of $1,000 (or an average $250/$500 insurance deductible) to get the converter(s) replaced. It can cost as much as $4,000 however."

    Also,
"Toyota Trucks and SUVs in the '90s to the late 2000s are especially vulnerable because the Catalytic Converters are more exposed than the average converter. The thieves can quickly unbolt/cut out the converter in minutes. Some of the larger Toyota Trucks and SUV’s have two Catalytic Converters as well."

They have lots of different metals in them and are worth about a tank of gas at a scrap yard

A coworker has had 3 catalytic converters stolen from his mid 90's 4Runner from our work parking lot during the middle of the afternoon. Taken even after the second and third ones were welded on. A sawsall makes for a quick getaway. He now drives a Taurus to work.

Did they steal your Cat or your muffler? From the pic it almost looks like they pulled the muffler...or did the earlier Tacos have triple cats like on my 1st gen Tundra? Sucks that they steal them, had a friend get them taken off his Dodge....cost $2k to have them replaced!

Holy hell, that's nuts. I find myself asking, why can't people get a damn job and earn their own money, it's not hard. Thieves piss me off to no end. Now I think I will go build a clamp or something to go around my cat and make it a total bitch to get off.

I'd watch out for heat issues if installing a shield. Cat's get really hot and reflecting the heat back up towards the vehicle or cat might cause issues.
