I'm thinking of selling my Tacoma because I'm about to be stationed in Germany and really not too interested in shipping a vehicle there.

I have a 05 PreRunner, Access Cab, V6, sport package, auto, black with black XD series 18s, K&N cai, tint, Jerez modded dash with blue & white lights, hyper yellow fogs, Kicker 10" sub and amp, plasti dipped tail lights and third brake light, and with 58xxx miles. I owe just shy of $23k for it. Think that would be a realistic number with that few miles?
Just wondering your guys' opinions. Tacomas sell pretty good up here in Washington.

Only decent picture on here right now.

Try looking at kelly blue book or NADA for "pricing guides". They are both free. In the end though, it is worth what ever you can get someone else to pay.

23K is a bit high for a 2005 Prerunner No?

Paid 20K for a new 2012 AC with 3 miles on it here.

KBB says $19,095 Private Sell for your truck with 53K miles.

4WD Tacomas sell very well here in Washington. Unfortunately Prerunners do not. I'm not quite sure what your best solution is, but I think you'll have a very hard time even getting anything close to $20k. Prerunners just have almost no desirability in Western Washington.

    You're crazy if you think you're getting 23 for a 10yo truck

Nice looking truck... but... 23 large outstanding to the bank on a 10 year old pre-runner?

    Youch.

I might guess that perhaps, you're paying a somewhat "sub-prime" interest rate also?

My best financial advice for you is to keep the truck and go on a severe fiscal austerity program paying every possible extra dime towards getting that loan paid off.

I bought a 4x4 SR5 4cyl 5 speed access cab brand new, loaded as a 4cyl could be in 05. It was less than $23k brand new. Something's fishy here.

You're assuming he bought it new.

I'm figuring he bought it from one of those dealers that specializes in selling good looking used vehicles to folks with less-than-perfect credit. You can call that fishy if you want.

To the original poster - keep your truck. There's not a member on here but looks at it and says "Nice looking Tacoma "

However, there's also not a member on here who hears that you owe 23 bills on it who winces and thinks "yow, how did that happen.?"

Your truck is "underwater" which is the term for owing more on something than what you can sell it for. There's no solution for it but to focus on putting your nose to the grindstone and paying that debt down.

That truck would be fine in Germany and it ships for free for you. I would take all that cola pay and pay it off or pay it down to a reasonable amount and get out of it without being upside down. I'm also pretty sure you could sell it to somone overseas maybe for euro and maybe even make out on the deal after you pay it down. Just my 2 cents man good luck!

Think about doing the BHLM - "Black HeadLight Modification." on it. As with my truck, the stock chrome background on the headlights *really* stands out against an all black truck - especially since you've tinted the windows and mounted black rims.

    Two cents, adjusted for inflation.

I have a 2005 TRD DCSB, off-road pkg. clean with right at 100k miles. The dealer here n colorado was gonna give me 16000$ trade in for it on a new one. That being said, I think it will be hard for OP to get 23k. Just my .02 cents. Good luck with the sale & thanks for your services for our country. :)

    I browsed Seattle's craiglist for 2006 pre-runners.

This is a private party sale - so I didn't bother looking at Dealer pricing. You're not a dealer, and you can't offer financing, so you can't sell at "dealer" price.

This is the closest one I found.

    http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/4868994154.html

Many of the ads do seem to be asking more than KBB for trucks in nice condition.

    http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/4868994154.html

Based on all the ads I saw, I'd probably try asking 19,500, because the 20K mark is a big psychological barrier for folks.

But, it's your truck. Try asking what you owe, and see if you get any takers. But I'll bet you "dollars to donuts" that you do that for a month and all you get are low-ballers.

You must have just bought it to still owe $23k for a '05 tacoma. Unfortunately, you won't get remotely close to that regardless of the low mileage. It being a prerunner access cab may not help. Due to the cost of shipping and not knowing what your financial state is in the future, I say sell it and get a personal loan with hopefully a low rate to pay off the difference. Keeping it and trying to pay off $23k on a truck that's already way overpriced doesn't make sense to me.

Here's a decent comparison... 2 years ago I bought a MINT 2006 Prerunner Double Cab TRD Sport with 75k miles for $17,500. I'm sorry but I don't think you'll get more than like $16-$18k MAX unless you find a sucker.

Let us know the details on your purchase price and loan sitation.
