Chiming in on this thread because I've been researching this tire pretty heavily over the last few weeks. Love the sidewall design and am torn between LT and P version. I currently have Falken Wildpeak LT E 10-plys on my 07 TRD Sport. They've given me a lot of tread life at about 55k now with another 5k - 10k to go but they are heavy and loud as hell. Think about 51 lbs each.

I want to go with these Toyo's in a P to shave weight and to have a smoother ride (ultimately to win back some lost MPG in the Wildpeaks) but honestly do not think I'll be happy with the less aggressive sidewall. Are Ps that much smoother than LTs?

I could always compromise and go with the LT in a C load range instead of E. They look about 2 or 3 lbs lighter than the E and would have the mid range sidewall aggressiveness over the P rated although not as aggressive as the Xtremes. I agree with a previous poster in his question around why the LT C (2470 lbs) load range would have a lower max load when compared to the P (2601 lbs) version. Anyone know?

    Thanks in advance!

Your tread design is your primary noise and ride quality factor in tires. From there it's load rating. I have a set of LT Ms2s and they ride great, I know they aren't they same as a/t's. But what I'm getting at as in my exp the load rating doesn't matter as much as the tread. I do know that the A/T2s have a more aggressive tread in the LT rating.

Thanks PeachEater. I want the all terrain tread and will put up with the firmer ride but think I'll end up doing the LT in a C load range. Anything ought to be smoother than the 10-ply tire I have now.

P rated are smother, but have very soft sidewalls as so i have found out.
if no offroad than p rated all the way
Since you are 4x4. I would not recommend p rated

I've found that sidewall design varies even amongst lt sizes. I had 285/60/18s and they were almost like the xtremes.

I run 325 xtremes but with some top shelf shocks you can dial out the harshness. Xtremes def look awesome .

Those A/T's are great until you run them for any sort of significant distance over gravel. Then the tread just "dissolves".

What are you defining as a "significant distance"?

I do about 20-40% of my driving on gravel. My Toyo A/T's chewed up fast. I can't remember how many miles I ended up getting out of them was because I changed to Toyo C/T's a few months ago but it was under 25,000 miles. Total fail of a tire IMHO unless you are doing 90% of driving on paved roads.

Just FYI this was all on my Ram 2500 truck with 10 ply LT tires. Not on my Tacoma. I will never put Toyo's on my Tacoma after my experiences with their tires.

Hmmm, interesting. I live on a gravel road but its short. I drive on it for about a minute a day. The rest of my time is on paved roads. By my unscientific calculations, I'd say the reviews I've seen are about 80-85% in favor of the Open Country A/T IIs being a great tire. I saw one long term (40,000 mile) review where a guy did 40,000 miles with duratracs and 40,000 with the Open Country A/T IIs. He gave the off road edge to the duratracs but overall really liked the A/T IIs as well. So, now that they are on my Tacoma I guess I'll have to wait and see how they do for me.

By the way, if anyone is interested, here is that long term review. He had them on a Chevy Avalanche.
