Window crank removel

I want to replace the speakers in my 09 reg cab and I haven't figured out how to remove the manual window crank. Any help would be appreciated, Chris

 

Manual window cranks are usually held in by a weird looking clip that kind of looks like the ohm symbol or a horseshoe in a way. There are tools for removing them, but I found out a trick...you will have to figure out where the open end of the clip is and crank it until it is pointing down. Then take a piece of cloth, t shirt, whatever, and gripping it on both ends, put it in between the crank and the door panel and pull up working from side to side. Eventually you will get the clip to pop off.

I can't say for certain that the tacoma's crank is like this, but it's a pretty standard design, so I would bet it is.

X2 lol thats how they actually tell you to take them off in the service manual...

yeah just pop um back on...make sure to get them both on the same tho...if your anal like me haha

 

The proper tool is available at any auto parts store pretty cheap. $5 at autozone.
