have 5100's on the way, installing on my 09 trd sport dc, looked at rear and only 2 leafs that are flat as the Texas plains, aren't there supposed to be 3 leafs? and shouldn't there be some curve to them? just bought truck so it came that way. stock bilsteins are rusted to hell.

Stock the trucks are 2 leafs plus 1 overload, the TSB makes it 3 leafs and 1 overload. If they are as flat as you say I'd just get a new spring pack and don't even think about an AAL

Dakar leaf packs are probably the most popular and in most peoples opinion the best. If you hardly haul weight then you can remove one of the leafs for a smoother ride/less lift. If you haul weight but not a ton like me the leaf packs are great, I had 1400lbs of sod in the bed (rare for me to have this much weight in it) and the second overload leaf wasn't even touching (yes dakar springs come with 2 overload springs to carry a lot of weight :D). If you haul weight frequently then they make an AAL which makes these leafs indestructible. I have never heard a complaint about these EVER.

The other big option is the AllPro leaf packs which are more expensive and have been known to go flat farely quickly (some people experience this some don't). They are about $100 more if I remember correctly but have been known to be a bit smoother of a ride. They only come with 1 overload leaf so I am not sure how well they do with a lot of weight.

The other big factor is how much lift do you want out of them? The dakars without AAL give about 2.75-3 inches where the AllPro leafs give over 3 inches. If you want less than both of those I think deaver makes a leaf pack that is 1.5 inches (not sure but I would have to check). The boss leaf pack by toytec is out but I haven't heard any reviews on it.

Those are the 3 main companies people go with for leaf packs.

other than just wanting a good truck; haul, ride, Off Road capability, and of course looks. Running 265x70x17 tires, id want whatever goes best with the 5100's. far as ride goes, its a truck, so while smooth is good, truck functionality comes first. sounds like Dakar is what i want. Thanks for the input, kind of new to the 4x4/Tacoma game. much appreciated

If you go with anything over 1.5" of lift I think that 265's look small in my opinion.. I have them now but once im in need of new tires Im going up to 285's.

If you remove a leaf out of the Dakars then it should be great for you

so are they the CSO44R "old man dakar"? being so new to this stuff i want to get model correct, no 4x4 shops in louisville, surprise surprise. i guess ill know by what price i should expect... set looking at now is $152, but i saw some from trdparts4u for $412 seems quite the $$ spread and both say for my truck with little other info
can you tell me which of these are the ones your referring to? or are they the same?

IMO your truck looks great,,, my tires are new so I'm stuck with them for a while.

These are the ones I got: With these you do need to get the extended u bolts and bushings, I have no idea why they can't just do it as a package deal and not make you get everything seperate. Total it'll be close to $500 if you go with this setup. They also say get the carrier bearing drop but hardly anyone needs it. It is incase you get driveline vibrations which 75% of trucks don't so I would hold off and see if you get them.

Wow I was just looking at the different spring packs and Dakars are the cheapest.. I didn't realize they were all so much. And to be honest I only put pictures up that don't make my tires look small haha if you'd like I can get a picture tomorrow form the side so you can see.

Well I'm back and happy to say my truck is done, for now. Installed the Bilstein 5100's and 1 inch BORA adapters on my 2015 DC 4x4 this week. I also installed a 1/4 inch top-mount poly spacer on the driver side. Went really smooth except for 1 little hiccup with an adapter that was easily corrected. The Bilsteins I set at 1.75 and she sits dead on level. Only have 1800 miles so it remains to be seen if things settle at all. Handling is great, no vibrations so far, and the ride is like I am back in my Suburban. One item of interest, and there is a thread in the forum about this - once the spacers were on, the passenger rear stuck out more than the driver side. HMMMMM. Well the answer is that the bed is off. So anyone out there noticing an offset after installing wheel adapters or for that matter bigger wheels/tires look for the thread or Google "Tacoma axle offset". The thread should pop up. It's not the axle. I moved the bed 1/4 of an inch. All is perfect. Thanks to everyone on the Forum for sharing issues and finding solutions. It is really a wealth of information.
    It's hog hunt time! :D

I have a 2015 TRD sport lookin looking at putting Billys at 1.75 and toytec aal in the back. The toytec aal says it adds 1.5". Will I still have a substantial rake with this setup?

That's what I am running but I put the 1/4" top plate spacer in the front. I am about 3/4" of rake with this setup.

Love it! It's a little on the firm side but I would not consider it harsh. Stock felt too sloppy to me.

    Just getting started
I've noticed that my stock 2014 has a lot of 'nose dive' under braking. I have a set of 5100's but have not put them on yet. I was waffling on the .85 or 1.75" setting. I was a little worried about being 'nose high' with the 1.75 setting. Based on what I've read here, the 1.75 is probably the way to go. A stiffer ride is fine with me. Any thoughts?

What is in question... take your front & rear center hub to fender measurements....and make the appropriate 5100 setting?
