    Hi all,

I'm almost done with my cheapo fog light installation.
I've run into a snag in that I can't seem to find a proper location to ground the interior wire harness.

    2011 Toyota Tacoma, 4-cyl, 4X4.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Where is your wiring harness ground wire inside the vehicle? Any body or frame metal bolt/screw into metal would be fine. There's some nice ones under the console.

theres a grounding spot under the driver side kick panel. The vertical panel next to where your left foot is on the driver seat.

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
I found a ground under the interior fuse panel. Pull the storage tray that covers the fuse block and just beneath is a panel screw on a metal frame piece. I tested it with my ohm meter, and it is a good ground. Depending on where you have your switch mounted, there are other good ground points. You really want your ground wire as short as possible to reduce resistance

There is a pre-drilled hole very near the fusebox; on the metal bracket above and just behind the fusebox. Access from under the dash. It is a good ground.

I thought I should report back.
After I finally figured out how to get the kick panel off (plastic screw behind the foot rest), the rest was a cinch.

    The fog lights WORK! Yay!
I think they look pretty good too! Not bad for $35 and a couple hours work...:)

Here are the lights I got. Good deal. Everything necessary was included, but I used the flexible wire cover which added about $4 to the cost..hehehe.

    Nada yet
My son maintains as long as a bolt goes into the body/chassis, it'll be an adequate ground. I see some contradicting in forums and saying not all bolts make adequate grounds and that choosing an inadequate ground could burn out an amp or controller. Would the bolt indicated by red arrow be sufficient ground?

Yes. If in doubt read it to a known ground if there is about zero Ohms of resistance you should be good.

I’m trying to ground a usb that I installed in the cup holder plastic. Underneath are bolts but I’m not getting it to power up. I have the red going to an add a fuse and into ACC fuse. I’ve tested all wiring and usb. No issues. Tried putting red directly into fuse box…no power. What gives?

How did you test the wiring?
    With a meter?
Does the hot wire from the ACC Fuse have 12 VDC?

Did you check the ground screw for a proper connection?
It should read very close to Zero Ohms with a meter.

If you have 12 VDC on the hot wire and a good ground connection the USB Connector is defective.

I tested everything directly off the battery. Have not tested ground yet. I will do that next. Yes I tested the ACC fuse with a multimeter. I think it may be a ground issue or a faulty add a fuse. I will double back here…
