Got a new Tacoma (TRD OR 4x4) and I'm looking to head out for some fun this weekend. Does anyone have suggestions for scenic 4x4 trails in Joshua Tree? I'm fairly inexperienced and driving a stock truck, so not looking for anything gnarly.

    Thanks in advance.

    This is a great start:

After you get more comfortable, check out the Old Dale Mining District, which is east of JTNP on BLM land. Some pretty cool relics out there, as well as scenery. Mostly fire roads, but a few cool little side trails too.

Also...check out Red Canyon Trail and the intersecting Bradshaw Trail. South and east of the JTNP Cottonwood Springs gate, just south of the Chiriaco Summit (Patton Museum too, very cool) area.

We just ran the Bradshaw Trail last weekend, and it was really nice.
