I am an intruder here. I only joined so I could contact csjumper about LED headlights. But I got an autoreply when I joined suggesting that I introduce myself. What the hell!
Headlight discussions are pretty much generic anyway, right? I've been wanting HIDs for a while, but the cost was a bit steep. Now that cheap(er) LED retrofits have appeared, I'm shopping. Any good opinions?
    --------------
This is what I sent to csjumper:
I have a 2003 Forester with original H4/9003 sockets and light assembly. I am interested in upgrading to LEDs.
    - does yours have a cooling fan? If so, it seems to me that mechanical fan is the first to wear out.)
    - Is it a direct plug in replacement with no additional wiring, fuses, ballast, etc.?
    - Is it optically accurate? (I've head that HIDs put into old halogen lights cause glare to oncoming drivers)
    - I don't want to impress anyone, blind other drivers. I just want to have better night lighting.
    - price?

    - I am also interested in the possibility of replacing my old worthless 5" foglights with some driving lights to better light up the road.

    have you tried HIDPlanet.com?

It's a forum for aftermarket lighting in general, not just HIDs. And my advice would be to use google to search that site, not the site's search engine (it's awful).

To do this, put in: "forester LEDs site:www.hidplanet.com" to search www.hidplanet.com for forester LEDs

    Hope this helps

Are your stock headlights in good condition optically? Lens no hazed or yellowed?

Do you plan on just swapping out the stock bulb or going full out with a retrofit? Projector lens, the works?

    do you have foglights?
