I just wanted to gather all of this info into one thread in the 2nd Gen section. I am sick of tearing through stock CV boots and will be trying an alternative. Let me know your experience with these products or a better inner CV boot that you have used.

    Parts:
    - New CV Boots (High Angle, Silicone, or other round boot): Dorman Silicone CV Boot Kit 614-004, CVJ High Angle Boots, ORS High Angle Boots
    - CV Replacment Bands: Hose Clamps, Oetiker, Band Clamp, etc

    Tools:
    - Razor Blade or Knife
    - CV Axle Removal Tool: Southeast Overland Synthetic Winch Line Puller
    [IMG]

    Instructions:
    - Remove CV Axle [Write-Up]
    - Disassemble axle, Clean and Inspect the inner CV joint and related parts, Re-grease CV joints
    http://youtu.be/YEaWyxF1S7o
    - Reassemble CV Joints and with modified inner boot as described below

How many boots have you gone through? I've had my truck lifted for 3+ years now and never had any issues. Just do the boot slide mod and problem solved.

*note, remove the old clamp before installing the new CV boot overtop.

*the original "holder" compresses the boot to o much, you have to clamp the boot outside of it, i.e. Boot slide mod

How do you like the SE Overland CV puller?

And that MetalTech video...lol for complete dis-assembly I promise they are all not that easy to get the axle out with the pipe method. I'm 2 out of 4 with that method. Other two required cutting of the axle and 100T press!

I don't actually have it, I used a hammer and screwdriver. It looks like it's a good tool.

I bet they aren't. That "star" is a pain to get off too.

Just replaced the other side with the same silicone boot that I put on the passenger side. The passenger side is holding up well.

Looks like I lied, there is a tear in the passenger side, at the bottom of the valley.. Dorman has a limited lifetime warranty I'm about to cash in on.
