I think one or two people actually made real suggestions on the old thread, so thanks for those. I fit perfectly in my truck now. $1500 for the seat bracket modifications, a leather kit, and a few custom leather touches got me a comfortable tacoma while retaining its daily driver capabilities.

I found a local (Denver) upholstery guy who wasn't afraid of the seat brackets. The seat brackets were the only way this could be done because replacement seats disable the airbags. We initially talked about modifying the cushions too, but deemed that unnecessary after seeing how much he could take out of the bracket.

This guy has been doing stuff like this forever and his welds were better than Toyota's, so I feel like it was a great solution to my headache problem. If you try to find someone to do this for you, make sure they take extreme care with your seat brackets.

As you can see in the picture, it's as low to the floor as it can be while still allowing forward/backward movement. A full write up and more pictures are on my website here.

Thanks! I plan on painting the exterior the same graphite color with orange pin striping to match.

Did you use the opportunity to install seat heaters? I see buttons on the center console.

I gave him the back seats, door panels and the center console on a Friday so I could keep the truck over the weekend. Dropped the truck off Monday morning and had it back by end of day Wednesday. He said the brackets took longer than he anticipated. Otherwise I would've had it back on Tuesday.

Seat heaters were already in there actually. A very nice addition with the leather.

Dammit. Now I have to convince the wife that we don't need to go visit her annoying relatives this year because of other spending priorities.

LOL. I know the feeling. I have a lot of work left to do on this thing. It'll be a while before I'm "done" with it... if ever.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
this great. added to my list of must do!

Looks great. 1500 for all that sounds like a good deal. I want leather but don't know if I can justify spending money on it haha

Man, you've got me thinking. I kind of figured I would loose the sliding function if I tried to lower the seat. The head room would be nice, plus the arm rests would be be at a more comfortable height. Also, I wouldn't have to slouch as much to see a light turn green. 6' 4" problems I guess.
