Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Well, I did some horsetrading to get it, but here's my new toy! 1979 Toyota Pickup 4WD, 20R engine, 4 speed manual tranny. Haven't got it started yet, it's been sitting 10 years but everything is there and it's complete. We ran a compression test on it yesterday and the readings were between 98 and 113 pounds per cylinder so that's pretty good. They will come up (hopefully) once we get it started up and run it a bit. Allegedly, the engine was rebuilt 12 years ago. Anyway, not to bore you any longer with chit-chat, here's some pictures of "YeloSno."

Some interior shots, man the cab on this thing is itty bitty! Makes my Tacoma feel big!

Anyway, we were prepping to start it and everything, did the compression test, pulled and cleaned all the spark plugs up and connected a battery; and to my utter surprise, all the lights in the dash came on, the seatbelt buzzer went off and even the signals and headlights worked when I tried them! Then, my buddy dumb-spelled out and accidentally locked the column so it would stop buzzing, and now the column is jammed up and we can't start it. So, that's where I'm at now. I am leaving for the weekend tomorrow for my wedding so we will pick back up on it next week sometime. My buddy is gonna fool around with it tomorrow and try and get it running so we can get it back to my place.

My plans for it as of right now are: (providing we can get it running)
-New carburetor, these OEM carbs are garbage, am going to get a Weber.
-New windshield, the existing one is busted up and spider-webbed.
-New plugs and wires, maybe a better distributor as well.
-Make sure the 4x4 works good by going and climbing up something.
That's about it for the time being. It will definitely need more aggressive tires, it has slick highway tires on it now. But, it will ultimately be my toy/wheeling rig. I've been wanting an older Toyota 4x4 for a wheeling rig for a long time. I know it's in good shape and a lot of people would like to see me restore it, but I simply do not have the time or cash to do that so it's going to be my play toy. Don't worry though, I don't go out purposely trying to tear shit up, I just want something I can take in the woods and not worry about scratches and the like.

Sub'd. And you are right the regular cab on these trucks is beyond small. It is amazing to drive one of these and get in your modern taco and see how far they have come.

sweet truck, one day I plan on buying and restoring a 1979 Toyota like yours. My dad had a lifted one when I was a kid and that started my love affair with Toyota trucks.

This is great. I'd love to have one of these old pickups, but the wife would kill me.

Yeah, mine is actually excited about this truck. But she loves trucks just like I do. She used to have a first gen 4Runner so has been in love with yotas for a long time too.

It's criminal what they do to this truck, but it surely is amazing how tough old yota trucks were! I would never let this happen to my '79, but at least I know it can survive the apocalypse if need be. Some d-bag on the Toyotaholics Facebook page a few days ago came on there with a 2015 Tundra bashing on all these "old ass Toyotas" and saying how his behemoth of a truck was better and more capable. Psshh! I would love to see a newer Toyota stand up to the abuse these old trucks can take and keep running. This one is a perfect example, you can't kill them!
