I've got em in my 1st gen - dome light and map lights - they work great. No problems at all.

Yes they do. As you can see the problem is a resistance issue. Mine are plug n play and ready to go

I used 2x200 ohm 2watt for map and 3x200 ohm 2watt for dome

It might work but definitely overkill.

Actually the 2x200ohm 2watt worked on the dome but the problem was it couldn't work with opening the door only when you switch it to on it works even without ignition, so when I made it 3, it now works when I open the door.. For the map a single resistor worked but if you turn off one side, the other side turned off too with it, so I soldered one more and now they can turn off each on their own. I guess from my situation, adds to the experience. Sorry I don't understand the calculations well but it works. Like you said overkill, but I had to even add extra to make it work right that's why I asked u what u used, I guess I have to understand it more. Do u know y mine reacts like that?

Adding 2 resisters cuts your ohm load in half. So 2 2watt 200 ohm resisters will be reading 100 ohms of resistance ish. Adding 3 cuts it more.

The 01-02, and 04 years are different than the 03 model and the resistance for an 03 is different than the others and is different as far as resistance and resisters.

Wasn't sure... Way back when I did my Tacoma and it required resistors, wasn't sure if newer LED's would still need them or not...

    That makes sense then.

What is the difference of tolerance 1% and 5%, I read about it but what significance is it if any to leds?

HID's, LED Dash swap, LED reverse lights, 15"x10" 5 slot mags, sliding rear window, 20gal aux. DS fuel tank,
The tolerance of an LED typically refers to it's operating voltage (i.e. input voltage) or it's light output (variation in lumens).

For resistors, the tolerance refers to how close it is to the stated ohms. (i.e., 100 ohm w/ 5% has a range of 95-105 ohms. Whereas a 10,000 ohm @5% = 9,500-10,500 ohms, @1% = 9,900-10,100 ohms).

Essentially, the tighter tolerances are especially needed for sensitive electronics. The circuit could be designed to handle a specific input voltage, but if the tolerance is too large on the resistor, the voltage can be too high or two low and damage the components.

Hello everyone - first post here!!! (Yes - it *is* kind of an old thread - but still applicable to me) I don't know who to thank, but I got the LED interior lights (dome and map) working on a 2003 thanks to info gained on this site. I used 3 of the "3110-W10-CB: White 31mm" bulbs from superbrightleds.com and 2 x 1 watt 100ohm resistors on the dome light a 1 x 1 watt 100ohm resistor on each map light. Works perfect and I can actually see things in the cab at night without a flashlight!

Well, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributed to this forum/thread to help figure out this flicker LED dome light issue.

I did the resister mod to the dome light today and wanted to post some pics for those who asked for some.

    1. Image of LED Dome light(not modified) yet
    IMG_8686.jpg

    2. Pic of the Dome light and resistors that will be used
    IMG_8687.jpg

    3. This is what 1 resistor looks like soldered to the back (I tested the bulb with 1 resistor and it still flickered)
    IMG_8688.jpg

    4. Two resistors soldered
    IMG_8689.jpg

    5. Door open, no keys in the ignition, and the light is on!
    IMG_8690.jpg

Hope this helps, and thanks again to all who helped solve the issue!
